lt1956, the campaign map in spqr6 is incredible!! honestly, truly, this is the very first time I have played a mod, loaded up the campaign map, and seen a map so remarkably different and beautiful in comparison to the vanilla map and all other mod maps!! wow, once-familiar areas such as northern italy and the western alps, now look incredibly fresh and spruced-up! i love the increased detail of the map, how it looks like youve zoomed in closer!
Looks Great Lt. The map is huge. There will be a definate need for forts in this one. Oh yeah the battle music is good too. But i gotta work tomorrow
Hallelujah! Praise the lord!
I look forward to opinions and stories. :-) oh.....and sleepless nights and upset girlfriends and wives. ;-)
WOW this one's a doozieI just fought my first two battles, one an utterly hopeless defense of Messana and one putting down that rebellion in central Italy. Now, granted, I haven't played RTW in a while, so I'm sure I will improve with time. But my battle in Messana, my town guard, velites and slingers against the carthaginian 4500 man horde, netted me a 1:3 kill ratio...as in 3 of me killed to every one of them! Youch. My slave rebellion fight I got 2:1, which I figure is bad, but not SO bad. 6.0 definitely requires a lot more organization on the part of the player though, if you leave a lone unit of hastati to its own devices you will lose it, and even hastati are expensive to replace.
Question LT, what are the rules for replenishing legions, combining units of hastati/principes/etc., and all that jazz? I mean house rules obviously. As I recall, it was that you can only add auxiliaries, no legionary forces, to a legion, but you can combine units within a legion?
I hate to say this but......Im an easy/medium mode. yes....AN EASY!! Its actually HARD!!eeckks!

I got one thing to say, the music... excalibur. Spot on LT!
On house rules alot of them are Post marius. I would say for NOW, lets just say play and see if you can survive, because I think the greeks, carthaginians, and Gauls want you dead, they may send your diplomats head back on a platter. lol BTW those are bad ratios. lol You gotta watch the slave revolt in italy they have a good army. lol
Messana is impossible to hold off, you will lose, maybe a draw is possible but they will be back, Oh an watch losing those 2 legions, gaul is just LOOKING for an opening like that. ;-) Its tight at first because of the low populations, but completely possible. Also any of you using the garrison script or are all you afraid? lol

Great! Now this weekened will be one of the best in my RTW life!!! Thanks for the mod lt 1956.
"Romans not only easily conquered those who fought by cutting, but mocked them too. For the cut, even delivered with force, frequently does not kill, when the vital parts are protected by equipment and bone. On the contrary, a point brought to bear is fatal at two inches; for it is necessary that whatever vital parts it penetrates, it is immersed. Next, when a cut is delivered, the right arm and flank are exposed. However, the point is delivered with the cover of the body and wounds the enemy before he sees it."

GREAT!!!!
Thanks a lot, Lt.
I´m going to uninstal BI and install (fresh) RTW.
It could be a good idea to make a "KillSheet Stories" Thread. Now, with diplomacy and an improved gameplay these stories are going to be fabulous...

haha spqr 6 is an interesting one... yeah messana gets mauled on the first turn (although my velites did well against the elephants, even setting them amok to kill Hannibal hehe), and by the second turn two full gaul stacks are headed into roman northern italy! then theres that full slave stack in central italy, i cant go near it without being ambushed despite me being aware of its location! aargh, what to do!
btw lt i checked the main faction window and there arent any victory conditions stated... so what am i supposed to be doing? lol
anyway great mod, and i love how u have the night battles feature fully functioning! btw is it worth fighting at night, besides the visual appeal (btw it kinda lags for me, two full stacks in hilly woodland)?
i <3 SPQR and lt1956!
