Default Half the generals disloyal in 1 turn suddenly?

    Hello,

I've come very far in this mod, to 129 BC (ok I play this on SPQR v7 since summer 2010 ).
I just took my 45th region (yes I turtled) and suddenly on the next turn about 20 out of 40 or 50 generals lost ALL loyalty rings, even those that had almost maximum loyalty 1 turn earlier (my SPQR version still shows the rings). This includes generals in the fields as well as in towns (even Arretium!). 15 cities are now at high unrest. Always had the script on.

Is that one of those surprises lt1956 mentioned or could this be a bug? Maybe it was triggered with the 45th region conquered, maybe not?

As I guess there is no fix for this really I will just pretend that 1/3 (!) of my empire decided to revolt, that will at least spice up things but also increase difficulty a lot (post Marian rebels are quite tough compared to pre Marian).

But anyways, I wonder if that's something known or if someone else made that experience?

Yes you experienced one of MANY random Civil Wars. I let the Provinces REVOLT also so I have to take them back. In RTW I cannot FORCE the province to revolt instantly, I have to allow one turn which will allow the player to basically cheat and stop the revolts some. If you are a hard core SPQR player let the revolt take place by hitting NEXT turn, then Armies and Provinces will revolt. Dont stop it, its parts of the features!

Great! I kinda hoped it would be a feature instead of a bug. I agree, it does spice things up and would be closer to historical facts.
Thanks for adding such things, it did come by a surprise as all those bloody traitors were so loyal 1 turn earlier. It did not hit me as hard as my towns were quite developed (and I noticed earlier in the game a disloyal general will get the town to rebel), I kinda wished it had.

You got a point there, maybe next time when a general lost all his rings I just let him take the town over to the rebel side. But sudden events are definitely even more fun as a challenge.

Thus maybe it was good you removed the loyalty display in v8.

I might even try some of the house rule stuff, such as not refreshing legions right away etc, we'll see.

And a very wise and historically accurate part of the features too, I might add.

Its all about your fun, I know its fun the way I play. I love civil wars as I can be in a middle of a campaign and lose my legions. lol
