A Fantasy Samurai mod

I have been playing Shogun II alot & think it would be cool if I worked towards a mod which is along the same theme (medieval Japan) but it is fantasy, on another planet with a culture similar to earths medieval Japanese, hopefully this would allow for more flexibility in factions (clans), the map & other various components.
I think this map from GiGantuses map collection would be interesting

I would probably have the same units as in shogun II in this but they would not be "generic" (unit cards) for all factions, like in mtw2 they would be faction specific
important I would eliminate multiple turns to recruit ( most annoying) & I would greatly lengthen the game (way too short in Shogun II)

ok, I am going to use that map
there will be three cultures
each with five factions
15 factions total:
units will be simple~
yari archers
yari spearmen
yari Samurai
Naginata Samurai
Katana Samurai
mounted yari samurai
mounted naginata Samurai
mounted Katana Samurai
(no gunpowder units but standard siege units, ballista, catapult & trebuchette)
I will use some of the elements I have already done for this project:

I think it could be quite fun to see a Fantasy mod involving various forces which have a medieval japanese appearance. But if you're going to do it, at least try and edit that Australia map to make it not look like Australia. It'd also be good to see some effort put into looking into Japanese mythology for additional unit ideas to make this more interesting than just a Samurai in Australia mod.
