Not to over complicate things but here's a quick list of cards I think you'll like:

    GTX 460
    GTX 470
    GTX 480

    GTX 560 TI
    GTX 570
    GTX 580

    ATI 5850
    ATI 5870
    ATI 5970
    ATI 6850
    ATI 6870

Don't bother with the 4000 and 200 series. Get the new ones!

I bought ATI Radeon 6870 a while ago and it plays all my games really well but you need the latest drivers ofc.
I play All in One mod with no problems with ultra settings and x2 unit size.

I'm sorry but it is not accurate at all (unless this list shows best performance vs price of cards, which even still doesn't make sense).

I am using the ATI 6950 2GB and am playing the game on all max settings bar SSAO. The game will lag if i zoom down on an intense part of a battle with many units crowding the screen. If i zoom all the way up, i get no lag at all. Keep in mind I'm playing with unit size on ultra too and without overclocking or having flashed my card (which i don't feel safe doing).

It really depends how much you want to spend because we could recommend you anything from a $200 card to an $800 card.

Best place to check is tom's hardware. They have recommended cards for all your price ranges. If you get something that is 150 or more, then you can probably run everything on Ultra.

    (I have a 5850 and I run everything on ultra, 1900x1080)

    Graphics Card Hierarchy Chart 2011

Anything within the first 5 "tiers" should get you Ultra settings - assuming you have a decent enough CPU, that is.

Agreed. Passmark is an awful frame of reference.

I run GTX275x2 in SLI -- more than enough to handle the graphics needs on ultra.

I'm running an ATI HD 5770 and it runs TWSII fine (on high though, on ultra it kind of lags a bit) if you have a low budget, it's also terrific for running most other games on highest setting too.

i'm using the same card, have you tried a bridge battle? while using Toon's all in one mod i'm lucky to get 5 fps once i meet the enemy at a choke point. i haven't tried a bridge battle on vanilla but the mod only adds 1/3 more men per unit than normal plus it removes arrow trails which increases fps so i doubt that the performance would be much better without it. i'm also overclocking my 5770 to 750mhz/1300mhz.

Bridges battles for me are really laggy if there are over about 3000 units in the fight. I love the battles though.

I think that, after reading the reviews on NewEgg on both the MSI and Sapphire 6950's, I am leaning towards the MSI. I really like the Twin Frozr II cooler. I think that I need a quit card for when I am recording things. Hmmm...still a tough decision, though. I was actually thinking about holding out for a month and going for a HD 6970, but if I decide to go with the Sapphire, I can flash it to a 6970. I don't know...decisions, decisions. I am really impatient, I guess, because I want to get a 6950 right now .

Oh, is there really that much of a difference between the 1GB model and the 2GB model?

Edit: Wow, just looking at the ASUS HD 6950 2GB and now I think that I want that one. Man...

I am thinking the 570 or the 5870, leaning towards the 570 though.

No matter what u will buy ther will be always a lag due 1 core support ^^. I have an HD5850 1gb OC, quad core phenom 2 and this game on ultra can slow down to about 10fps at 1280x1024.
