I've met plenty of pakistanis who do this sometimes, my neighbours used to argue really loudly in Urdu, but occasionally it'd be punctuated with something like "HE'S YOUR ING NEPHEW!!!", was quite amusing when those English snippits crept in.

As for the woman totally owning the cleric, good on her. I'm glad she stood her ground, people like him revel in a male dominated version of Islamic society, and as somebody else said, an attractive, independant woman is something they find very threatening.
