    Default Post written about performance

    Hi all,

First I'd like to say thank you about your mod! It's brilliant.

I have a question: I think that there's was a topic about increasing performance in machines with 2gb++ of ram with a program XXXX C++

Sorry I don't give more information but it's the only I can remember!

    Thanks again

This topic existed but it as copyright infringement as it was altering the .exe..
however...CA has confirmed in many occasions that the RTW engine will only adress 2GB Ram no matter what. Its simply the way the application was written..

The reason why some people encounter less CTDs with the +2GB RAM exe is due to the fact that trashed memory is allowed to built up beyond 2GB and will not cause CTD...RTW,BI,ALEX tend to loose track sometimes of their own memory and gets confused or do not delete properly memory after using, after battles for example, which lead to RAM built up and to inevitable CTD cause of insufficient system RAM after a while.
In reality you can say that the RTW engine suffers from a memory leak which never got fixed to 100%
However..the Large Adress Aware RTW.exe does nothing performance-wise as RTW only runs on one core and only is able to handle 2GB RAM

Not true. Yes, RTW only uses 1 core, but that does not necessarily limit the application to 2GB RAM. With a LAA .exe it can address over 2gb.

The memory leak issues are true, but by allowing the game to use over 2gb, CTDs are less common. Plus, it's a good habit to exit and restart the application every now and then, to avoid these memory issues even without experiencing CTDs.

I am not sure why the thread was removed, because to my knowledge it is legal to modify the .exe, as long as the security measures (cd-rom detection) are left untouched. Plus, it is illegal to distribute a modified .exe, but it is perfectly legal to explain how to modify it, as long as it is explicitly stated that it's for personal use only. I am the guy who wrote that whole guide we are referring to btw.

Guys, if you want to discuss this, I suggest you go to PM's, before a more severe moderator comes along and starts locking this thread and deleting the posts. I will mention I've benefited from the LAA thing, and it has improved performance somewhat.

Yes, please. This is a 'troublesome topic'.
