Default CTD when starting a campaign

Ok the launcher is ok, i managed to run the game up to the main menu. I chose Rome campaign, so i got a screen saying " Start Rome Campaign with RTW" i cliked that. Then it brought me to campaign setup where you choose difficulty and such, i click the right arrow which is the " continue" aka Start Campaign button. The game starts loading,i get the usual quote in the loading page, the red bar is moving then i get CTD right after its about 3/4 full.
This also happens in other factions, no matter what i choose i crash at loading page where its about to bring me to campaign strategy map.

    - What OS do you use? Window Vista 32 bit

    - What version of RTW do you use? ver 1.5, No Expansion

    - Are you using steam or not? Not using Steam

    - Install path C:/Activision/Rome-Total War

    - Which launcher option have you used (exe, faction etc) Rome. RTW.exe, low vegitation

If you are reporting a game CTD please provide the additional details

    - system specifications, CPU, graphics card
Window Vista Dual Core 32 bit system 2.70 GHZ ATI Radeon x1200 series
I have run the RS2 mod before when it came out back in September, i deleted the game and now i came back only yesterday, yeah it took me 1 day just to properly install it, now this.. CTD is the only problem.

    - graphic options selected
No grass,Low vegetation, No anti aliasing, Large Army, 1280x resolution, Medium unit quality
Ok lets just say i turn everything as low as possible except the Battle resolution

    - ideally a compressed save game immediately prior to the CTD so we can attempt to debug
I dont have a save game since i cant even start a campaign

The error say Rome Total War has stopped working

Also note that I have read somewhere that i must choose "Click here to Start a Roman Campaign" before clicking the Right Arrow button in the Intro. Well there is no such option in the intro. All i get is a moving description intro of how the Roman city was founded. SO i just continue on by clicking the arrow which brings me to the Campaign Difficulty Options, after choosing difficulty, Start the Campaign, It loads, it never reach the full bar because i crash right before it almost reach the full bar.

I had this issue myself when I was trying to get the mod to run on Ubuntu Linux. I concluded that the crash during campaign loading was caused by game files being messed up (i.e. double files, double folders, incorrectly merged and overwritten files).

As you are on Windows, you should not have to manually change files and copy them around (as I did). I recommend re-installing the game and mod, to be sure that all files are where they belong. That will most probably fix your problem.

    I have reinstalled everything now.
A made a copy of the vanilla RTW
So i have C:/VanillaRTW and copied the contents to C:/RTWRS2
Now i tried to install RS2 to the C:/RTWRS2 but upon clicking "Install" nothing happens. The installion window just close without any messages. I tried to run the RS2 setup ocne again but i get the message "Another instance of setup is already running." How could it be when no such setup is running.

End the setup process via task manager, or just reboot the system if you don't know how to do it.

Now, put all the install files (4 .cab files, 1 msi and 1 exe) in a separate, empty folder. From there, execute the executable file. Assuming you know how to change the install directory in the installer, it should work. If it doesn't, one of the downloaded install files might be corrupt. Download them again if this is the case.

you sure about separating the install files? cuz i thought they must be in the same folder in order for the RS2 setup to work

Oh I meant putting all the install files together in 1 folder that has no other files in it. Should have been more clear on that

The install instructions are fairly comprehensive and have screen shots of folders etc. You need to follow them. If you don't that is when problems happen.
