Hard Drive Noises
Hi
With my computer (and all computers I believe) when you start it up you can hear the hard disk spinning. Over the last few days this noise has become more high pitched and a little louder. The noise slowly reverts back to its normal noise after about 5 minutes though.
Should I be woried ?

You can download a diagnostic tool - depending on the make of your hard drive. It should be able to determine if there are any problems. Clicks and whines "can" be normal...are the noises occurring just when the drive is being read, or when it is idle?

They only occur during the first 2-5 minutes of it being turned on,
ill look for the diagnostic tool though

Whoever makes your hard drive - go to their website. They should have diagnostic tools availble for download, or for online use. Good luck!
I've noticed my parents hard drive doing the same thing, but a defrag helped a bit, as the drive did not have to be read as much to locate data.
Also try checking the drive for errora via windows, drives make more noise the more work they do.
Of course it can also signal the beginning of the end for hard drives, but most of the time it's not.
