Default Moving parts of models/skins around

I have these really good custom skins and models for the roman factions that i really like, but there are certain things i don't like on 2 of the units. The helmets on one unit and the colour of the aarmor on the other. I was wondering if it was possible to make one unit have the same helmet as another unit while still keeping its original armour and shield and stuff. Also, is it possible to change the colour of the armour and shield while still keeping the skin and model intact?

    Thanks.

Yes it is. To edit the armour just open the two skin files and transfer the armour texture across from one skin to the other. Wit hthe other one you would need 3ds max to change the helmet.

Could you be more specific? What programs do i need and what files do i open? I tried simply changing the texture path in "descr_model_battle.txt" to the texture of another unit, but it made it look exactly like the other unit even though they had different models.

    Thanks.

You need to edit the texture to make the change in armour. Are you modding RTW or BI?

I'm modding RTW. I basically have this old urban cohort skin that has black armour and a black shield. I want to change the armour colour to be silvery like all the other unit armours, and the shield to have my faction colour on it (the shield is black no matter which roman faction you play).

I looked at those threads and they say you need photoshop to edit skins. I don't have photoshop, nor the money to buy it.

So i'm just going to go right ahead and ask any kind person here if they can do it for me. Basically what i want is just to change the colour of the armour and helmet of the urban cohort skin to the colour of the armour and helmet of the praetorian cohort skin, so they have the same colour armour. And i want the shield to be the same as the praetorian cohort. That's it. Here are the skins for both units:

If anyone could be kind enough to do that i'd apreciate it.

Thanks a lot for your help. I appreciate it. I just hope you don't think i sound ungrateful for what i'm about to say now...

Maybe i wasn't clear enough in my post but i wanted ALL the armour to be the same colour as the praetorian. The breastplate, helmet, shin guards and shoulders. Everything. I also wanted the exact same shield model AND texture as the praetorian, not just the colour. I hope i'm not being pushy but i'd really appreciate it (yet again!) if you could fix that 91.css. Thanks for all your help. :original:

The model, I don't know how you'll change the model of the shield. I guess you should take the .cas files from praet, rename them to what the urban's are called and copy - paste replace.

But... If you want it ALL to go to the urbans from the praets.. you should just rename the texture (dds file) and replace the other...

Otherwise go to descr_model_battle and change the path of the urbans to the files that praets are linked to.
