Don't bother. Conquer more regions, don't adopt, kill off old & weak generals and you'll get the children you need![]()
I agree - don't adopt, kill off weaker generals if possible.
Also try and marry off a princess if possible, there is not much you can do if you have multiple boys under the king, only the "prince" will get to have princesses that are usable this means you will muddy the bloodline under him and kill the family name. So try to keep the King & Prince line clean by marrying off or denying her getting married if you can't find a prince. If you see that a king has died, that means that there is a new prince under that faction and most times you get lucky and he will be unmarried so rush your princess off to their land ASAP and try and marry her off.
Also, there is a 4 children max limit per couple (apparently this is hard coded) so hope that your bloodline has a lot of boys as finding a prince to marry is always a pain in the ass.
Also - having the "Fair" trait actually adds plus to having children if I remember right. If you want to ensure that your prince and his wife make babies like crazy you can always give him the Prolific trait (Fertile 3) - not that I condone cheating...![]()
As far as I know the total amount of royal family is hard coded in the game. You can change some traits to make different the rates at which you get new family members but that is fairly minor. Its just much easier to do as bane_tw said and don't adopt, and capture more regions.
Or play a submod that allows purchased generals.
In 6.4 SS you can purchase generals in Fortresses.
where can i get a sub mod to get generals?
Wich version of ss do you play?
I don't think that anyone has come up with any evidence that the fertility /infertility traits make any difference in the number of children you get.
(indeed what's worse is that the triggers check (amongst others) to see if either a character's mother or father were infertile - apparently infertility can be inherited?)
If anyone is looking for traits to remove they'd be among the prime candidates for me.
Sometimes I edit so that the maximum number of children are three instead of four... that way, one generation can never become too many so you have a bunch of 50-60 year olds and none younger because of the oooold mens club... with three kids per general, the ratio for kids/regions never get upped so fast... also, I delete all non-family generals in the descr_strat for my faction so my "new kids on the fort" (<= did you see what I did there) can get their own little place when they come of age....
