I don't think it's related to Islam, while indeed Muslim's AND Christians along with other religions butchered other people for different believes, sending troops into a country which kills it's troops/workers is beyond madness.

You must understand, some people just take their beliefs a little too far. In doing so they create false expectations and images in the minds of others. Minorities tend to be either over-represented or under-represented.

There are few religions that are compatible with peaceful co-existence, unless 'liberalized'. Religion tends to be of an aggressive nature; live this way or burn in hell, unbelievers are your enemy, bow before god and fear him, people who live different lifestyles are enemies of god, no marrying heathens, etc.

We've only managed to maintain peaceful coexistence in the west because we tend to take holy books as guidance, and only make passing gestures to god, while committing various sins away from church and rejecting the more anti-liberal passages.
