Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
That's right. After a long interior discussion within the team of the Great War mod, we reached the consensus that the daisy cutter, a fearsome weapon of mass destruction, would be implemented into the mod for version 5.0.
How will it work?
Due to the fact that we sadly cannot represent close air support, the daisy cutter will not be brought in by bombers. Instead, a unit of infantry, given at most twelve or sixteen men, will be allowed to use the daisy cutter as a special ability, not entirely unlike the grenades of some units in vanilla N:TW. These grenades, however, will have an immense range, and enable the unit to bring down daisy cutter shells on its enemies, obliderating hundreds of men each time the strike falls. The unit will also be given special capabilities such as the ability to hide while firing and walking, and have a substantial morale-weakening effect on enemy units.

Details.
Being a relatively small unit with a low number of men, it will cost a generously inexpensive 15 gold, based on a new balance calculator made by the team. This will be counterbalanced by a difficulty in obtaining the unit; the entire technology tree must be researched before it can be recruited, and then only in disappearingly small amounts, with a recruitment limit of 20 units.
From a balancing prespective, the Daisy Cutter Assault Infantry will be a powerful part of your arsenal. Our playtesters found it 'an absolutely amazing' and 'cool' unit, often scoring mind-blowing amounts of kills (sometimes in excess of 1,000 enemies) through the simple presence of one of these tools of destruction. Admittedly, this does not properly represent the true destructive potential of a Daisy Cutter, based on intricate and precise research, and the unit will be balanced so as to be more powerful prior to the release of 5.0.
