    Default Forced Diplomacy

Hello all, first post on TWC, long time lurker, so all peeps on here - especially moders, feel proud that you have my attention first.

Anyhoo, getting Kingdoms in a day or two and after I have exausted my interest with the new campagins I'll be quickly looking for a mod and this seems to take the biscuit out of all the others. Already read through FAQ and a variety of threads on here - including the 'Should Byzantines keep up technology wise' - I do love Byzantines but I'll leave that debate until I've played the game.

One thing I find faulty with TW games is the AI's total lack of diplomatic understanding - fair enough, they're not real, but I find with other mods I've downloaded in the past, especially with Rome, I've always gone for the mods that include Forced'Dip just as its a way of keeping a political perspective to the game as after all the AI is programmed to just dominate and not contemplate whether peace might actually be beneficial. So, bascially does this mod have FD as an option? I'm still going to download nonetheless but I dont want to find I'm jumping the gun a bit in what to expect.

In general, your reputation will count a lot towards your diplomacy, as will how well you can hold your own in a fight.

Alliances are pretty useful when it comes to safety, and having an ally share a border with you can be a Godsend occasionally.

Really though, if you start to lay the hurt on a faction, they can sue for peace and in one case, sue for peace just as the war started. I rejected their plea and then they took the offensive.

Aye, I know the general jist. Have been playing Clouds Across Europe Mod for Vanilla for years now its just when you get into a situation where, for example, England pounds the crap out of Scotland and you want to make peace just to not ruin the Popes parade, so you offer a ceasfire and they reject outright its just not logically sensible. I'd go one step further to demand to be a vassal in that situation but I've only ever once been able to get a vassal in the total war series and that was back in the Rome Total War years after giving a fortune over in financial terms. So its just a way of 'helping' the AI diplomatically.

Plus the reputation thing annoys me as well. I dont know if its been fixed or improved for Kingdoms but for Vanilla your considered untrustworthy because YOUR attacked by 4/5 factions at once and decide to defend yourself. The only way you can keep your international status maintained is by pretty much letting them steam role you while you become a full blown pacifist. Also the relations as well - poor at first, then very poor because you attack back and turns into a downward spiral. Its like "what, we attacked you, raped your women, took your money and put your sons to the sword. Why you so angry?" - In a strong Hungarian accent.

    See what I'm getting at.

As long as you release prisoners, dont assassinate, spy and dont sack cites your reliability should stay good and make diplomacy easier. Plus in SS there are three options for the A.I. which range from all out backstabbing s to reasonable peace, But even with Gracul (the former) ive kept the turks my ally for the whole campaign so far and its turn 60.

The Orcs of Gundabad Erin go Bragh FROGS

When I came back to Dublin I was court marshaled in my absence and sentenced to death in my absence, so I said they could shoot me in my absence"
    Brendan Behan
    The Irish won an Empire
    The Scots ran an Empire
    The English lost an Empire

"When I told the people of Northern Ireland that I was an atheist, a woman in the audience stood up and said, 'Yes, but is it the God of the Catholics or the God of the Protestants in whom you don't believe?"
    - Quentin Crisp

There is one weapon that the British cannot take away from us: we can ignore them.
    - Michael Collins

They have nothing in their whole imperial arsenal that can break the spirit of one Irishman who doesn't want to be broken.
    - Bobby Sands

Yeah, diplomacy and reputation have been fixed. Thank God.

Generally, acting chivalrously will net you a decent reputation.

Clouds across Europe is a good mod. Played it back in '07. Had a ball.
