Think I've made a HUGE mistake....

As France, I have been using Grenadiers of the Line as my main troops instead of Fusiliers of Line and after reading the forums, seems to be a HUGE mistake.

I don't get it tho since the grenadiers stats are better than fusiliers and both have same amount of troops (150).

Im using the Napoleon Empire Realism (NER) mod btw.

If it's working then you haven't made a mistake. Though I thought Grenadiers of the Line had fewer men.

Well after using mostly Fusiliers, I think the Grenadiers of the Line are better. They both have the same # of men, but that may be the mod im using. I also noticed the ai likes using grenadiers and have really given my fusiliers a tough time.

I was just reading several post where people said grenadiers are worthless and I must say that I could not disagree more after using both types.

well in vanilla theyr worthless... but mods are different.

Why are they useless in vanilla over line troops. I just got the game and am learning the ropes.

Small unit size means they get cut to pieces by musket fire, bad ranged stats, and their melee advantage really does not justify their cost. Polish Legions are better in every meaningful way.

Lancers are better for the charge role. Or go with Young Guard if you really want an elite infantry unit.

Line Grenadiers has 120 men on ultra (60 on normal) and Line Fusiliers has 160 men on ultra (80 on normal).

You are using a MOD.
In vanilla the grenadiers are quite useless, but in most mods they are balanced and made more powerful.

Yeah it was the (NER) mod, which I highly recommend btw.

They're not even worthless in vanilla. They're just not line troops. Use them like they were meant to be used (hint: their description calls them shock troops) and they're amazing.

They're not, people just don't want to use them correctly
