Was wondering what people thought the hardest campaign was, all late, in my mind there were really only four choices (CS, Lithuania, ERE and Kwaz) but i thought i would through in a few others, all late era as i believe its supposed to be harder.
Crusader States
Khwarzmain Empire
Eastren Roman Empire
Lithuania
Tutonic order
Portugal

They have nothing in their whole imperial arsenal that can break the spirit of one Irishman who doesn't want to be broken.

Yeah, Ichon is right. Cumans are the hardest. They are poor, undeveloped and not able to wipe out Mongols within 5 turns. Definiately the hardest. Kwarezmians is hard but you can annihilate the horde very quickly. The rest is medium or easy even (Crusaders) if you know how to use cavalry properly.
for me it was the crusader campaign in early as well as late campaign!
in my actual campaign i play as byzantium (late era) and its also a hard challenge! but the nicest campaign i played with SS yet!
cheerz,
..
crusader states for me but i havent played as all of those factions yet :$
Kwarezs is hard late bc of mongols.
Crusader is always hard.
Romans are ridiculously easy early era, probably much harder late era.
do leave your name if you give me rep. i may just return the favor. maybe.

Khwarezmians have it the worst, easily. Sandwiched between the Seljuq Turks and endless stacks of Mongols, with the looming possibility of a Cuman incursion too if they manage to hold the Mongols off for a little while.
At least with the Crusaders you're insulated from a Mongol attack. Plus, you can try to blitz the Egyptians with a supplementary Crusade, and that makes things substantially easier on that account.
Late Era Byzantines have a bad starting position, but the relative wealth of some of their regions combined with the fact that the Turks will get pulled away to fight the Mongols/Khwarezmians/Egyptians makes it a lot easier. It's not a hard campaign; it just takes a long time to build up and start taking regions back.
Lithuania in the Late Era peters out as far as units go but the Teutonic Order is a joke and even when used by the AI, they seem to abuse all of their neighbors with ease (Poland notwithstanding).
Teutonic Order is all about falling back, holding, rebuilding the troops and nipping at the heels of the Lithuanians or whoever else you're fighting.
Portugal isn't hard, just boring. Ally with the other Iberians or with the Moors, watch the fireworks, and expand to far-away places because you're on the edge of the map where there's no real territories to push into.
No late era Cumans? Well with 6.4 whoever has to deal with the Mongols no question. No other factions have to deal with 10-20 full stacks of high xp troops right from the start. Its not impossible but compared to Lithuania or CS the other "hard" campaigns its a different level.
CS is really easy. Haven't played them all but TO was diffecult for me.
CS is kinday easy, just bum rush the Fatimids from turn 1 take Gaza and keep pushing to the West, they'll crack between turn 15-25 if you're lucky, just leave the rebel settlements nearby Jerusalem alone. After that it actually gets boring real quick, no real pressure from Turks but hordes which are easily swatted if you wait the siege then by turn 30 or so they're so caught up with Khwarezmia and Byzants whipping on them they have no choice but to get divided and die.
Khwarezmia obviously
You lose both your capital and faction leader in second turn. You have a Horde with several fullstack to deal with

Khwarzmain, in late and if you chose not to rush with jihad to take mongols city. Rest is easy.
CS is kinda easy, tho uber blitz is very needed from 1st turn. With gracul ai it can be challenging on late campaign...
The Khwarzmain Empire in late campaign. I have played them a couple of times and its very hard to keep away the mongols.
