It was one of the most interesting empires around. It was taken apart by the Sassanids and the Guptas, but its influence in Buddhism and Helenism was striking. I would haev liked to see it in game. How come it was taken out?

It was in decline. I don't think it was quite dead yet....

It's never been in IJ/SAI. The Kidarites are sort of successor to the KushansOriginally Posted by brymht

By the era SAI is playing in the Kushan Empire was long dead.
Shapur I. subdued them after his great western campaigns (app. 261-266 AD), after that there were still some petty independent Kushan kingdoms ruled by certain Clans, but the last of them fell to the Guptas and Shapur II.
Shapur II had to fight very long and bloody battles against them. The Chionitae incursion was probably invented by the Kushans to get rid off the Sassanians.
Kidarra and his Kidarites were maybe the last great "Hurrah" of the Kushans.
Some of the Kushan Clans remained very powerful even among the Sassanians. An example are the Kanarangiyan. The Romans mistook that Clan for a title/rank: Chanarang.
