    Default Villa Muncius

This Villa once Was my fathers. But Just say that someone took care of my father and i inherited all his land and his home. My family past haunts me to this day. My father only went by the name of Damien. And yet i do not know why he named me Servius. maybe he wanted to make sure i was in good hands. I have no wife and do not plan to marry just yet.

Welcome to my villa. Where the Muncius family still keeps its Dark Secrets of my father. I will avenge my father and reclaim my family's honor in the Republic . I have dreams and hopes for this Republic. Its time that my family gets the respect it deserves after loyal service to the republic.

    Name - Servius Septimus Muncius
Traits - Cold, Heartless, Fruitful, bored with the races,

Backround - Servius Septimus Muncius was born in a wealthy family. His father was a lone Senator opposed to any war.
His mother family was also rich and had great influence in the roman Senate . His grandfather was a powerful senator in his time.
That reached the rank of Censor. His father was also a great senator but opposed any war against any nation regardless .

His father was so hated by the senate that they exiled him for a brief time for unspecific reasons. Once he returned the senators turned on him again. This time takeing some more from his family due to * Financial irregularity * which was not true. But regardless once his father passed away he was not allowed to get buried unless the senate approved of it. Which of course did not happened.

Servius Muncius Septimus. hates the senate and what it stands for. But he will play along with them for a little bit. who knows maybe he would get revenge for his father sooner then he thought.

Politics - Simple he hates the plebs and the other noble family's. He only cares about his own family and the money he gains from tax on his farms

Servius sipped his wine as he looked out towards his Republic and smiled. He had been in the city for 9 months already and the republic is prospering under his fathers plans. But the people of the republic were fools to believe that he actually cared about them and their families. No he only cared about his own family and how much power he could get in the senate. He could care less if lower family's got destroyed or lost everything. no he only cared about himself and his family fortune . He heard a knock on his bedchamber doors and sighed

    "
“So Servant what news do you bring me? “ Servius was not to fond of his Servant. Over and over again his Servant has proven to him to be a failure and he deserved death. But of course he could not kill the servant without a valid reason so he let the commander live for now. The servant kneeled and looked up at his lord.

" I have news about your father. He has been laid to rest in the family tomb. Their was a little outrage from the plebs but other than that it went according to plan. Your father was laid to rest with full honors. No other familys where present at the burial my lord "

Servius sipped his wine some more " That news does not surpise me. Now i want you to get prepared for any guest that might come to my villa. prepare the finest food and wine. you are the dismissed "

The servant bowed and left the room. Servius sighed and sipped his wine some more. The republic will know of his family once again. and he will do anything for any cost to bring his family honor back. That he vows to the gods themselfs

I hope you will take this offer as the next time this is offered i may not be so gracious. There is also the matter of your recent motions, concerning the building of sacred places. it seams to me that you do not fear the Gods and their Wrath.

Servius opens the door of his villa to see a slave standing outside. He listens to the slave speak and then takes the letter the slave had and reads it. How interesting... Already someone wishes for him to stand by their side. and yet he has not heard of this senator before.

He looks at the slave and smiles " Come into my villa slave. Have a feast with me and my servants. Your master will get a response as soon as lunch is finished. I know this is not something you heard or done before. But for this hour you are my lunch guest. now come in and lets have our selfs a feast. " With that said Servius turned around and walked back into his villa. He ordered his servant to get him his ink feather and some papyrus.

Servius turned around to face the slave " So tell me what is your name. Yes once again i know it is not heard of to ask such a thing. but then again i am not like the others. and please come him and make yourself a home for this hour for lunch ". Servius smiled to himself. Yes he had no fear of the gods because he worshiped the correct ones .

Servius once again turned around and headed for dinning area of his villa

Servius sat down at the head of the table and smiled. the lunch today was how he remembered it from his mother who use to cook for him every morning and afternoon and then go out and do some shopping for the family.it was on those days that his father was out and about. with the senate and the other noble family's. when his father returned home, he was usually drunk or in a fit of rage. But he still respected his father and did not question the reason he was drunk or angry.

Servius shook his head of the memory's and watched as the servant came to him with his ink feather. He nodded his head at the servant and told the servant to bring the guest in. The servant nodded his head and went to get the guest. Servius began to write the response to the letter

    Dear Gaius Julius

    Y
ou are right about one thing. I do not fear the gods totally. I respect them and i worship the right ones. But i also know that they are not getting fully worshiped by the people of Rome. How many temples to the god mars do you see in the city ?. how many to Jupiter and juno ?. And i will take you up on your offer. I need some allies in the senate. After all it has been a while since any member of my family has been in the senate of the republic. also have you heard of what one of the Consuls of Rome did ?. He burned the temples of the Macedonians. That is a outrage !

    Sincerely
    ServiusMuncius

Servius looked up and neatly sealed the papyrus paper with the seal of his family. He placed it in his lap and watched as the servant came with his guest.

" So you have not told me your name guest ?. It is alright to speak it.. as you are my guest and not a slave. perhaps i can help your family in some way ?. maybe send more grain to your family or some money ?. anyway i hope you like the lunch "

A Female servant bought out some lamb and duck. some exotic fish and some meat. Servius smiled and began to eat the food in front of him with his fork

A hasty knock was heard at the door. A slave opens the door, but there is noone to be seen. Then the slave spots a message lying in the ground. The letter had a tiny red-coloured seal on it, with a little C on the center.
The slave carries the letter inside to be read by the master of the house.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
To be honest, i am quite angry of your recent acts. You want to burn down temples of the goddess of hearth, home, and family? The protector of our homes? Do you really understand what would you need to do to do that?

Furthermore, you would need to burn down all homes of good romans, temples, villas to succeed in your goal.

A Servant went to the door and opened expecting to find a letter. But he was instead greeted by a slave who had a letter with him and thought it was proper to let himself into the household. He took the letter from the slave and dismissed him as he went back to where lunch was being served to the lord of the house and his guest.

The servant goes up and whispers into the ear of his master " A letter has arrive for you my lord. I do not know who it is from but it seems rather important since it was in the hands of slave. here it is " The servant hands the letter to the master of the house

Servius looks down at the letter and opens it and reads it contents. Servius sighs and closes the letter up once again and hands the letter back to the servant " It seems that someone did not like the fact that i want to destroy the temples of the goddess Venus. no matter I will respond to the letter as soon as this lunch is done with.. you are dismissed "

The servant bowed and left his master side.

*Spurius walks to the door in person, with the intention of meeting and greeting the new senator. He raps 3 times and waits for the door to be answered. Whilst waiting he sat down on a nearby stone bench, sunning himself while admiring the garden, and the trickling water of a nearby fountain. After a while he goes to a grape vine that scales the side of the house, and plucks a grape, proceeding to pop it into his mouth. Spurius grimaces, definetly not ripe yet...*

A Man in middle class clothing enters the villa courtyard followed by a slave. He spots a man on the side of the house and wonders what he is doing here. once he got closer he notice that the man was a senator and was waiting for his master to answer the door. The servant turned to the slave boy and told him to enter the house from the side and for him to wait in the basement.

Once the slave boy left the servant took a deep breath and headed for the senator. The noble senator look to be around 33 years of age or so. The servant did not know the senator name nor why the senator wants to visit his master but he was in no position to ask those questions. He took a deep breath and let it out slowly.

" Greetings Noble senator. How may i help you ?. " The servant asked as he looked around at the grapes on the vines. these days the grapes did not grow as ripe as before and it was like almost a omen from the gods. But how would he know about the gods ?. He was just a servant... he only knew how to obey orders.

The servant stood still waiting for the senators response.

Ah, Septimus. Good to see you back in Rome. I don't believe we are well aquainted but I wish to change that. I am saddened to hear of your fathers death, and I can assure you I was never one to stand against him, and I regret how little effect my actions had in swaying the senate in his favour. It was my first term and no one was inclined to listen to me. *Spurius shook his head, looking saddened*
Now to put it bluntly, I am looking for friends among the senators, as my political enemies seem to often have many a supporter. Perhaps you know of a few of them? Poplicola, a well known war moungerer, yet he has those who love him... Why I am almost certain that he was one of the prominent supporters of your fathers exile. Perhaps your father spoke of him? If you have not already dealt with this man, I urge be wary, he is manipulative and hungers for power, I'm sure you heard of the military crackdown he established as Praetor?

Servius listened to the noble senator speak as he ate his food. This noble senator seem to be in the same place that his father was in not so long ago. with a war hungry Consul destroying temples to the gods of others. This man could be a ally to him in the long run. He needed allies in these tough times

" Yes I have heard of Poplicola but it is the other consul
Pallas Rutulus AVentinus that worrys me the most .his disgrace of the gods of others. How dare he destroy temples to the gods that are like our own. But regardless of his actions. He has taken over the lands which in turn help bring in wealth to the republic. But he needs to go my friend. He needs to go because his actions tell of a different story. He is leaning closer to being a Dictator and although i will not opening suggest his ouster. I will say this. Whenever the chance arises he must go by any means necessary. " Servius said as he finished eating his lunch and smiled at the senator.

" My friend why don't you sit down and have a bite to eat with me ?. Their is still some food that needs to be eaten and its of the finest quality. Plus the wine is also fine. And thanks for your kind words about my father. I hope pluto is judeing him kind and he could go to the The Elysian Fields. so my friend want to join me for dinner and a late lunch ?. And by the way what is your name ? "
Septimus asked as he clapped his hands and a servant bought out more food to the table

My apologies, Censor Spurius Geminius Scaeva at your service. And I gladly accept your invitation for dinner.
While neither consul is particularly admirable, I maintain Poplicola is a the man to watch out for. Pallas, he is away gaining dignatas, he is of no danger to Rome. And he does not seem to lack piety, why he was the man who proposed the motion -which was passed-, to build temples to many of the gods in Italy.

Servius listned to the senator as he ate the last of his lunch. Sevius wondered if the senator knew of what happened in Macedonia and the burning of the temple. But he pushed those thoughts away from his mind as he thought of what to say to the senator.

" Nice to meet you Censor Spruius. I have heard very little about this Poplicola person you speak of. But in time i will assume that will change. No doubt that both Poplicola and Pallas are a threat to the republic. As you must of heard. It was pallas troops that burned town the temple of Edussa. Yes he might have propose the law for creation of more temples of the gods in Italy. But that does not explain why he burned down temples to other gods in our province of Macedonia. that is what troubles me the most. He goes on behalf of the roman people and leads our legions and yet it was his legions that have raped woman and burn temples down to the ground. Do you not think this man pallas is a threat the roman values and the republic ? "

Servius sipped his wine and watched as a servant poured some wine for the censor. " I have heard rumors of the governor of Hispana being ill. Has anyone come to replace the ill governor as of yet. I have some plans for that province. But that is for another day. My friend what brings you to my home. I am just curious that is all. it is not often that i get visitors of such high rank. at least not after my father was exiled and he came back " Servius said as he sipped his wine once again.

*Spurius laughed.* I see this conversation is in danger of becoming a philosiphical debate, but I will answer you on the subject of Pallas.I am of the opinion that the Macedonian and Greek gods are not the same as ours, so we should discourage their worship. Admittadly Pallas' actions were a little blunt, I think he should have slowly converted their temples to our gods instead. As for the rape and pillage, alas it is innevatable with troops far away from home, knowing their lives are likely to be short, starved of entertainment. I've spoken to men when I was a consul leading an army, they see taking their pick of the women and goods as a right and a privalege of being a soldier. A leader to deny them this would be unpopular indeed, and no general wishes to be hated by the troops in a foreign land.

As for the visit, why should I not visit you, you are a senator of Rome are you not? It is surely the characteristic of a tirant not to talk with his peers, and ignore the opinions of others. Besides, in a place like the curia, one always has need of an ally.

Servius sipped his wine as he listened to the censor. The army is acting out on their urges it seems. Not really thinking roman but thinking as a lesser man. their was a way to end that. One could just create a motion that would ban any solider from acting out on their urges. and if they are suspected of acting out on them. then they will be flogged. Or one could stop the worship of the goddess Venus. as she is the cause of all this.

" My dear friend. soldiers on the battle field have no privileges as they are fighting on behalf of the republic. So they should listen to their commander then to listen to their lesser self's. Tell me something my friend. if a common non military man went to a Greek city and started rapeing woman with his friends. and looting buildings and burning temples. would he and his friends not be punished by us ?. would he not be executed and his family exiled from roman lands ?. and yet these soldiers do the same thing and they get off easy ?."

Servius sipped his wine again " The people we conquer should be allowed to worship their own local gods. As long as they are loyal to the republic and do not rebel. They should have rights that roman citzens have which is that people that commit crimes against them should be put on trial. yet i doubt that the soldiers that did such a thing would go on trail. they basicly got away with rape and gods know what else. But regardless. would you rather have happy people that worship their own gods but are still loyal to the republic . or would you rather have rebellious people who think that the republic is a bully and at any chance they will rebel against our rule ? "

Servius sipped his wine again and ate a piece of bread and swallowed " Yes military action will be able to put down the rebellion. But for how long and we would be wasting our army if we had to keep going back to the towns that are rebelling because of our actions because we burned their temples down and force them to worship our gods and how they watched their woman get raped by our legions with no justice to be served afterward for the crimes . And i am honored that you came to see me my friend. and i would be honored to be your ally in the senate."

Alas, one thing we can't do is control the men's feelings. Flog those who rape and all you will get is more floggings. Have an army restless from a long seige, threaten those who rape and loot with death, and you will have a smaller army.

I can see you are not a particularly religious man, but there are many Romans would say it is our duty to convert the Roman world to the Roman religion. Yes, in the short term getting rid of their gods will cause unrest, but in the long term sharing the same religion will bond the Macedonians to Rome, making for a more stable nation. But I do agree that the burning of the temples was far to blatant, and there will be those who resent us because it.

I, myself, do not profess to be a religious man, but I come from a long line of augers, so I like to think I am an unbiased authority on the subject.

Servius sipped his wine some more as he listened to the censor. He was right about one thing. The army does deserve something from a long night of a siege. Money would do it but they get paid enough as it is. and he could not give them wine because that would make them drunk and even worse. But if the soldiers worshiped the goddess Concordia. Then prepares they could be less inclined to rape woman.

" My dear friend you have a point. I think their is a way to have the towns without their local temples to their gods stay peaceful to the roman republic. Have you heard of the goddess Concordia ?. The goddess of Harmony and understanding. Their are not many temples to this goddess in the republic. But if someone could convince the senate to finance the construction for these temples. this could start the conversion of the people to our religion slowly. "

Servius sipped his wine again. " Maybe for punishment for their crimes. The soldiers will have to construct the temples to the goddess . it will teach them a lession that what they did was wrong. and maybe from their pay they have to pay the family's of those they raped. it is far better then flogging them for their crimes and it teaches them a lesson. Now that we covered that issue. I have a question for you Censor".

Servius clapped his hands and a servant came out with another flask of wine and poured him and the censor another goblet of wine. " My dear friend. how do you know of my father ?. I am just curious, it is not often that people talk about my father in a good way. After all it was the senate that exiled him for no reason at all. But that is the past and i am willing to forget it for now. But do tell me how you knew my father "

    OOc -
not sure if the goddess is worshiped in the game. But i hope they will allow me to say the temple was built . if of course it gets funded by the senate . Which i hope it does (( mostly for Rp purposes ))

OOC: She is not. But we can just remove money from the treasury and say it was built. Did your father reach a position like your father?

IC: I did not really know him as such, well no more than I knew any man in the senate. More admired him when I was young, why you might say that I hoped to be one day as bold as that man. I am ashamed to admit that in my first term, -when your father was around- I did not always speak my mind for fear of reprisals. But that was a long time ago, and I am now the man you see before you.
