    Icon11 Music?

I'm sure this has been discussed in another thread but i was just wondering if there is anyway to get the original soundtrack from the original game? I love everything about SPQR except the music.
So if anybody has any information that would be much appreciated.

IF you have a clean install of Rome you should be able to get the original music and switch it.

Just an idea, but does anyone else agree that this mod would be even more epic with music from "Gladiator"? Not that it isn't awesome now, just saying.

Then there would be the issue of trying to obtain rights to use it, and not violate their copyrights.

For me, I do not use the music at all. If you want enough variety in it, you need like uh...hundreds of minutes, at least for me. But Vespasian is right, legal issues are last thing you be needing.

To change music you'll need to do two things:

    1. Copy the original "Rome - Total War\Data\sounds" directory to "<SPQR path>\Data\sounds" (overwrite if prompted - backup before overwrite is recommended, in case you'd like to go back)
    2. Copy the original "Rome - Total War\Data\descr_sounds_music.txt" file onto "<your installation path>\Data\sounds"

First step copies the tunes & second step makes the game aware of this modification.

The way i fixed this is i put the game music on mute, and i have my youtube playlist on in the background with The original Rome total war, Gladiator, and other movie soundtracks playing. It's awesome

Good choice - external music is always more practical and easier to manage... I find the original RTW music calming, while SPQR music puts me into high-caffeine-mode, they are both good for different moods though

Anyway, glad that it's sorted for you now. enjoy.

I had a "goosebumps" moment with the new music. Was playing my first battle with the mod, against the Carthaginians. Just as my lines where breaking, "O Fortuna" came on. If you haven't read the lyrics for it, it's about how Fortune (Fortuna, the Roman Goddess) and Fate is always against "me". Quite fitting to listen to as my men were getting butchered

Now it's not that i do not like the SPQR music. I have simply got tired of it lol. I have played this mod for a very long time and the music stopped being good after awhile. Like i said I liked the original soundtrack alot and Gladiator's music fits in very very well with the battles.

You can please some of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time. The music is awesome!
