    Why are the sassanid regular infantry (Paighan-i-Sassani), using such long spears/short pikes?

    Mmmm, I have thought about this and the only conclusion I came to is that the Sassanids use them to create massive Roman kebab sticks.

    Maybe that lowers the enemy morale? Most men don't like it when someone else has a larger stick. Or anything else, for that matter.
