Re: just got EU III advice
I wouldn't even know where to start. Be prepared to lose and restart some games before you find the rhythm. The wiki is a little outdated depending on what version of EUIII you're playing. Anyway, just start a game and start poking around and use the wiki once there's a question you need answered. At worst, the wiki will at least give you a hint on how to handle the problem.
When you start wondering about economics, here's some rough tips:

EDIT: About mods. If you want to up the frustration level a few notches I'd recommend Magna Mundi. It requires all expansions except Divine Wind, but if you have the complete edition all those (except DW) are included you need to get Heir to the Throne as well (please correct me if I'm wrong).

Re: just got EU III advice
An error on my part. I think Heir to the Throne is not included in EU Complete (please correct me if I'm wrong). Just a heads up when you're looking for mods. Anyway, I strongly recommend HttT since it adds some pretty new mechanics.
