lets say one day games workshops decides to take whats rightfully theirs what do you think they will do? will they shut down the mod? can they even do anything?

oh and can i suggest something for the game too? as i understand it after the major chaos and orc invasion at turn 60-70 there are no other big scripts(if any) so i though maybe put a script that causes a civil war between the empire factions. personally i would love to invade middeland but if i do i would be breaking alliances with every province

so what do you guys think? a civil war between the allied(good) forces at turn 130 or 140? sounds good or not? even if it is not exactly lore accurate its got to be more interesting right?

Seeing as most, if not all the CoW team are Russian nationals I suspect there is little if any direct action GW can take against them. Historically Western, companies and governments/law agencies have had very little impact on Russian (or former USSR) based nationals and companies, particularly relating to intellectual copyright and downloading issues.

Probably cease and desist orders to the websites hosting downloads of the mod, but you can't stop it's development or stop people getting copies and playing it, it would have a online presence like now but distribution would change to torrents or something similar.

If anything, GW will look foolish persecuting it's fanbase who have made such an outstanding effort to promote GW and it's many products, after all CoW is basically a big advertisement for GW products made by the people that love and pay for them - the fans.

Games Workshop has done it before. More recently on certain mods for Fallout 3.

But to answer your topic: No, US based companies cannot interfere with national citizens of other countries. As well as the fact that this mod is giving full rights to Games Workshop and their products, as well as this mod being a non-profit based thing (Although I saw copies for sale in Leningrad ). (Only person who can be hurt technically, is me, or others from US side who help the mod).

If you were GW why would you close something down that publicizes your products?

While you have every right to post this thread, that does not mean that is a thread you should post.

I do not want to get into how much other mods have infringed on the supposed "copyright" law of these boards, but do I see those threads being harassed? No. And why not? Because early in this mod's development, somebody accused this mod of ripping models from Mark of Chaos. This accusation is based on a biased opinion as well as ignorance of facts. It is quite foolish to stat that this mod has ripped models from Mark of Chaos seeing how the mod team has created their own or modified other mods' files.

This topic has been discussed beyond the point of arguing and this very subject has been described numerous times before hand, just as threads about when a new version will come out in any other mod thread.

And as such, this thread has no purpose.
