My name is Andrew, I am originally from London but now live in the beautiful East Midlands city of Lincoln. I never miss an opportunity to plug my beloved home so expect to see some nice ditties from me on the subject.

Viz. my profession, I am in fact a lecturer in Medieval History, specialising in the knightly orders, notably Templars (another good reason to come to Lincoln). I spend a lot of my time trekking round Templar strongholds and areas, searching for clues as to what might have happened to the bulk of Templar records after the heinous actions of Phillip IV of France. Thus, DO NOT expect to see me writing about this! I get enough of it at work!

Why is it that the bleedin' experts on the subject are always the first ones to scarper when it comes to writing history based on it? This is a dark day for Medieval fiction, sir!

How would you like it if I asked you to write an article on the vagaries of Cello playing in your free time?!

Are you serious?! When can I start? I will have to compile Popper's treatises on bowing for sources, diagrams of Stradivari's designs for examples, and some manuscripts by Tartini. Perhaps I will write a fictional work based around some cellist in the Regency, now that you've inspired me.

Anyway, my general area of expertise, when I get into Universities, shall be the period 955-1914. European history, in what I call the "age of the horse" (beginning with the massive cavalry sweep at the Lechfeld, south of Augsburg, and ending in the massacre of hussars by machine guns at Mons in 1914), covers all the perfections I find so glorious about my beloved Europe. Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, and Romantic music, architecture, and painting all evolved in that tiny span. Another term I use is "the short millenium", or "the European millenium". Every single year in that span of 959 years fascinates and engages me. To go back to a mindset which prevailed in any of those years would be preferable to the modern world, in my opinion.

Now you've dug-up so many things in my imagination that I shan't contain them.

Hey guys!Hi I am JK, I just signed up to share a bit of my writing with you. Hopefully it will be something a little bit different, a little bit quirky. I\'ll probably make sure that I will always be a little further ahead than I have posted so you can expect my H.F. either later today or tomorrow.JK

Hi, I'm Samurai Sun, you can call me Sun, and I've just posted a H.F set in feudal Japan called "To Serve" which will be updated whenever i possibly have te free time to do it in. It was inspired by Katsumoto's great H.F "The Way of the Warrior" and a personal interest in the historical period.

Great story Sun! Will rep in 24, apparently i have given too much out...

I have to say i like this place already, there are some superb stories here. Hopefully within a week or so i will have contributed with some Historical Fiction, most likely about some sort of Dufferly fellow! Then again, i've never tried any A.H. so perhaps i will give that a go! But in the mean time, why not look at my other Duffer stories, (located in my sig! shameless plug i know... )

Hello mates! I would be less than honest if I did not post an introduction here. I had mildly opposed this within the Curia, but I can see that my fears were not well founded. I might give this a try over the winter break.

In any case, if a deserving piece is completed -- I would urge a heads up in the Eagle Standard and/or the Critics Quill. Completed stories of any length should be proudly proclaimed to the far corners of TWC (not to mention such publicity will do wonders to increase the eyeballs travelling to this forum). If any are thinking of a serialized piece over the course of time (maybe in the format of a blog), such would also be of interest.

The Scriptorium is looking for great articles. Don't be bashful, we can help with the formatting and punctuation. I am only a pm away to you becoming a published author within the best archive of articles around.

You are in good form, as usual, Viking Prince. It is indeed a great tragedy that this sub-forum has not been given more publicity as-of-yet. When it comes down to brass tacks, however, the number of excellent writers is increasing daily. Visitors are coming in a small, yet steady stream, and we might see some improvement as the New Year passes away.

We've already had two pieces submitted to the Scriptorium for review, both of which were unanimously accepted. Short steps, my friend, may grow to giant steps some day!

I'm Cap'n Jin. I like to write. Going to continue my story and hopefully come up with some others as time goes by, time permitting. I'm going to try and focus on stuff that isn't so overdone in the media and such, WWII, etc.
