    Default Search for 2TPY

Hello all, quick question from a guy who's still trying to get up to speed with all this new updated modding stuff in SS.

I've been trying to find a way to play SS 6.4 with 2TPY enabled. So far it seems like Meneth's Compilation is the best bet, as it is the most up-to-date and the 2TPY submod overhauls many features of the campaign to make everything more realistic. However, I hear that the Compilation also breaks custom battles. AND there's something else I don't quite understand -- If I install the compilation, does it automatically insert the One Settlement type submod? That's another thing I don't want, I really prefer the two different cities. I'm easily seduced by majestic castles

So I guess my final question is....what method of getting 2TPY has worked the best with everyone here? What would you recommend? Again, I'm trying to avoid the crashing custom battles and I'd also like to keep castles. If there's any way to simply take the 2TPY work of Meneth and get it to work I'd be kinda ecstatic! (I have done lots of forum searches too, DONT worry, but I get threads with 50+ pages and I haven't read them all )

I hate asking questions that have been asked before but this seemed to maybe be the best way to get a definitive answer. And of course, A huge thanks going out to every last one of you modders, for making this game a beautiful one!

    I just use this submod:

Plus you get a lot better units.

by installing the compilation, you are given choices for 2tpy. OST is just an option, not automatically included. but if you use the compilation (which is great) you will suffer the custom battle CTD. sorry.
    thanks Ferdiad for the save.

No, vanilla SS dosn't have YPT options.

Hey everyone, thanks very much for the replies and suggestions!!!

@Andy, thanks for the suggestion and the link! Looks like a VERY fine mod! Checkin it out now and DAMN! *whistles* might have to install that thing!

@Asterix, alright good to know about the MSC and stuff. Thanks for the more detailed info. I really don't know much about it other than what's on the first page, so when I saw these other details in the thread I panicked. But yeah I might try installing just the 2TPY if it comes to it

Also Asterix, what mod were you using to give you the startup options? With the 1tpy or 2tpy and early/late? Just curious really.

    @Ferdiad thanks for the correction

@Losthief, okay so hold on. I should only install MSC version 5.0.3 if I dont want the OST? If I still want to keep cities and castles? Can anyone verify this, cause now it seems like theres two different positions here. From anyone who's installed 6.0, does that give you the option to disable the OST?

Thanks again everyone for your advice! Still looking for a nice 2TPY mod that can HOPEFULLY play nice with my custom battles! If not, I guess I'll have to bite the bullet. On that note though, is there any way to easily uninstall MSC after a few campaigns to get custom battles running again?

    1) yes...5.0.3 has both 1tpy(turns per year) and 2tpy early/late and castles/cities or ost. After the modder went to the 6.0+ versions for his simplification and less work (understandable) he has only ost and 2tpy as that what most of the people using his submod used. I used 5.0.3 and it works fine, if your an experienced modder you can mod 6.0 with the 5.0.3 files to reinstate castles/cities and only a few things will be 'off' with recruitment times and such i think.
6.0 and 5.0.3 and instructions are found in this thread (downloads links on original post):
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=380006

    2) It's pretty easy to change the ss 'mod' to have 2tpy in it, but the values for units, city/castle growth, recruitment, replenishment, etc etc will still be off, but the events are based on years not turns. Again if you know how to mod all that other stuff or just don't care about it read this thread:
http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=429509 and others and go to the mod workshop for all the files to change.

3)I don't really know personally never tried to uninstall.

both 5.0.3 and 6.0.whatever will give you the OPTION for OST. but the custom battle crash is unique to the 6.0 generation, i think.

no...6.0 makes u use ost...if you want castles you have to either a) use 5.0.3 or b)mod 6.0 with 5.0.3 files. the custom battle crash is unique to the 5.0 generation and up (aka ss6.4 and up).

Woah man! Haha well THANK you all who replied, looks like things got a bit confusing. But I think I have it figured out, that the version of MSC I want to use is the Compilation 5.03 or whatever, and unfortunately it still has the custom battle crash. If I can uninstall it though, like Ferdiad was saying, I could maybe jump in and try it out.

Additional thanks for Losthief for the VERY awesome answers in numerical format And for the links, I'll be sure to check em out if I wanna start modding! Or perhaps just make that "simple change" for 2TPY like you were saying, but what attracted me to Meneth's mod was that he changed everything else to keep it real and immersive. BUT then again I can live without it! Maybe? AHHH, so many options! Haha thanks again though guys!
