Default Questions on the Black ship

I got some questions about The Black ship:

    1) Are there more than one of them co-exist in a single campaign?,
I've read somewhere that it is a ship send "yearly", but I have yet I find another.

2)Anybody have picture of it while it is still in Portuguese's hand?
I heard that the crews are Europeans, that are will be replaced with normal Ashigaru crew if captured.
Most of the us (I believe, that's including me) go straight to auto-resolve in order to capture it easily.

3)Under Portuguese's hand, do they travel in convoy or alone? and if in convoys, what are the units they are travelling with?

4)Anyone have pictures of it burning, or destroyed?

    Thanks in advance

    PS. Yes, I have one.
This is one comparing to Nihon Maru (That floating castle)

Where in the world do you find the black ship? I've gotten the messages but can never seem to figure out where it is on the map. Also, are there any consequences to capturing it?

consequences limited to the massive upkeep (but it is worth every bit of it in battle)

and to find it...well, it normally passes along the trade routes from South (Left side of map) Northward, can be on either side of Japan though, and It is possible that an AI faction might capture it before you do (such was the case in both my Hojo and Uesugi campaigns)
Sometimes I argue in favor of things i don't necessarily believe for the sake of a good argument. ( #51 )

And sometimes i argue in favor of things because i believe in my argument. ( #16 )

be aware, don't destroy in a auto resolve battle, just capture

I've found it on the one of the left side of the map on one of the trade node, at that time it was already been captured by another rival clan, but I guess its' origin should be around there.

1200 upkeep I heard, but worth having IMO, considering it looks and the OPness of it. Single volley from distance already send those small Bune(s) flee.

Quick save to be sure, then auto-resolve and reload until you have it.

Anybody knows when the ship arrives? In one of my campaigns it came at 1557, but in my latest campaign its 1564 and its still not there!

    1) No, only one. Hence the name 'THE Black Ship'

    2) The crew are Portugese sailors, but if in a Japanese factions hands they are Ashigaru.

    3) Alone, though they may pick up random Japanese ships that they have captured from engagements along the way.

    4) You'd have to hugely hugely suck to let that ship die. lol

Oh and if you want a powerful ship, just use the Christian Nanban trader ship, its basicaly that black ship with a few less cannons and 1/6 of the upkeep. One of those will easily sink any large Japanese navy.

Thanks, I'd be Christian on my second campaign.
and on 2) and 4) I just want pictures of it, just want to see it damaged models.
But the clarify a lot and way.

I was playing the Shimazu when the message came, and sure enough spotted it to the SW of their home province, between the 2 trade nodes. I managed to join 2 4-ship fleets of medium bunes off each of the trade nodes, and manually engaged. I got it down about 10%, but it wasn't really a close fight at all. It demolished me.

autoresolving a battle like that seems like cheating. No, i play the battle.

In my Otomo campaign it was the hands of the Portugese, but i sailed two nanban ships either side of it. The first one routed but the second boarded it. Victory!
In my Mori campaign i tried to sort of keep to its front and shoot it with bows- but that thing is IMMUNE to arrow fire.
Still Mori i returned with fury, bringing bow kobaya. I set it alight, but it still destroyed me.
I built a fleet worthy of the gods, only to see the Chosokabe snatch it. When i sialed near it i noted its low halth (men on board and cannon) so i attacked it, completly swamping it.
Next turn, my 1700 koku a season income was in negatives.

Leave a cheap ship to the S.W of the S.W trade node for a few turns, replacing when necessary. It will suffer high seas attrition but will spot the Black Ship when it enters the map moving from S.W to East.

I've also seen the Black Ship enter at the N.W (after it escaped battle in the S.W the previous season) but in my experience it will enter at S.W nearly all the time.
