    Icon7 Problem Unpacking

I have looked through the forums and internet on how to unpack the game, i found out with patch 1.2 you get a unpacker. I now have unpacked the game, giving me data_0 - 4 and another localized file. All files are in the .Pack state. From here, i have downloaded various programs on how to open these files, and none have worked yet.

I have looked around, and still cant find how to open these files.

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Medieval II Total War\tools\unpacker. Run the unpack_all.bat.

ok, i run the unpacker again, and watched it this time, it stopped and closed around 14000 files unpacked. do you know anyway to stop this happening?

You may wanna make sure you have enough space for all the files. Not saying this is the problem but, you never know, they do take up a little bit of space.

Disable the UAC, then try it.

How much free disc space. You need 9gb minimum for it.

now, just a clear up question. I have read the other forums on editing units. Lets say you want to edit swiss pikeman.

when it comes to this line

    "soldier Swiss_Pikemen, 60, 0, 1"

the guide says that the maximum units you can is 100 in the kingdoms expansion pack. If you have the Kingdoms expansion pack loaded up, does that mean, you can have 100 units on the original game or not? If no, what is the limit on the old game, is it 60.

    medieval2.exe is 60.
    kingdoms.exe is 100.

The best way is to download some mods, play them some to see how they balanve, then go to modding.

All these questions can be answered in the Mod Workshop by those more capable than me.

    Enjoy playing and enjoy modding.

In the readme for the unpacker, it says for you to delete two geography files so you can fight battles.
