Default How `bout this for an idea...

RR/RC compilation "simulates" the fact that many medieval armies included large numbers of mercenaries through their division of units.
The way I see it, the "Local" and the "Professinal" type units represent the various mercenaries (while the "Feudal" type represent the various "knight-type" units).
Now, what if the "Local" units were made available in cities (not just castles)?
With a lower replenishment rate, of course.

Would this unbalance the game? Would it make it too easy?

The way I see it, this only makes sense. If a certain band of men are working as semi-professinal mercs for whatever feudal lord is in charge in the neighborhood, they wouldn`t really insist for that feudal lord to have a pretty castle...

Another thing why I feel this change might be good, is that it might allow for a drastic reducement of militia type troops.

I personally find it irritating that you get 2 sets of units, that for most of the time do the exact same function. Just one does it worse than the other(militia troops vs. castle troops).

So, the question is, will putting "Local" type units into cities unbalance/make the game too easy?

I would rather see that AoR units get recruited in certain Mercenary buildings in cities instead of recruitings on the campaign map... also, all merc units should be disbanded and new generic units could be retrofitted for this idea... this way you will need a certain building for the mercs (upgradable of course), also, as the OP suggested, a lower replenishment rate as thus on the campaign map right now...

the only problem I see with my idea is that it would perhaps use a lot of different Hidden Resources, although, I think you can make the mercs faction-based rather than HR-based...

The problem with Mercenaries being recruited from buildings is that you'd have to go inside the city for that. If the city is plagued or you're in enemy territory, you can't hire mercenaries. I prefer the current system.

what would be a good idea is to make save folders, eg. folders named by the played(ing) faction, the saves consist of auto-save,before end turn save, before battle save etc.

So you don't have to save manually before these things and the saves are ordered by faction so unless you are playing the same faction at the same time you should never have to do a manual save.
