Outranged in naval battle ? How ?

Hello again,

As i have made series of battles since yesterday, i have now another question from the field of battle.

As i am confronting my opponent, using chain shot to gain a longer range, i find myself in trouble because his shots outranges me.
How is it possible with the same guns on the same ships ? Is there a special tactic to do that or a special key ?

I learned too that the Santísima Trinidad with 140 guns is a beloved ship for many spanish players.
I prefer myself the beauty and style of a 106 guns british line ship. Fighting like Nelson asks for using the same ship.

106 gunner is far better than the Trinidad in naval battles, or so I find anyway, the players going as Spain and using that ship have to be quite tactically astute in order to use the Santissima properly.
Are you asking why chain shot has a lower range than round shot?
Round shot fires spherical shells, so less air resistance and higher speed.
Chain shot fires two spheres, with the chain (I never really looked too close at the ship, so not too sure). But the essence is that chain shot is slower and has more air resistance, hence a lower range.

What Yasin said. Chain shots do not outrange round shots. So yes, they'll outrange you when you start to use chain shots.

Personally, I don't enjoy these 1-3 ship battles, playing games where there tend to 28-36 ships present in a whole game rather than 8. However the rare moments I do, my personal choice is the French 122 gunner instead of the British 106 and the Santissima.

I prefer single ship battles because it is too hard for me to manage multiple ships at the same time. Maybe one day, in slow mode, i will try this large numbers ships battles.
