Default Why doesn't anyone conquer Ireland?

Seems a little strange, I'm playing a campaign with France and I've kept good relations with England the entire game so they started to conquer Spain in order to expand, also it's quite common for Scotland to conquer Brujes or Antwerp but I've never seen any of them trying to conquer Ireland.

because of the income of the region...
    the level of the city...

I think it's because of the crappy AI.

I've seen England conquer Ireland a few times.

In a real long campaign I saw England take over Ireland - and then shortly after Scotland became interested and started attacking them. I agree it is just a dumb AI.

I once uprooted my Teutonic Order and went and conquered Ireland and then all over the English Isle. Then I sold off Riga, Palanga, and Visby to the HRE & Poland. I made Galway a Fortress over time before I retired the campaign.

Because they have Riverdance, Celtic Woman and High Kings, so Englishmen got scared.

In all my vh/vh Norway Campaigns I always go straight for Ireland to boost my economy. Its free money as the AI rarely bother with it. That said, with BG submod Scotland always makes a move and try to invade Ireland after I have taken it.
    lol

They actually do it? Well, indirectly, I affect the AI behavior for Ireland. Maybe it's because Scotland didn't have a proper roster and was stucked with England.

Scotland has been super sneaky in my current campaign. They almost destroyed England completely, then tried to invade Ireland with me in it.
Luckily then had gotten themselves excommunicated, so I started a crusade, got myself a crusader army and raided almost all their settlements and
gave them back to England. So now Scotland is letf with Caevenon(sp?) and England has all of the British Island.
    lol

Scottish peasant millitia have 9 (nine!) in missile attack. Thats more than the crossbow millitia produced in large cities.
Seems a bit overpowered considering its a local millitia.
    lol

Scottish Peasant Militia are javeliners, not crossbows. Also, they jump 5 meters into the air whenever an arrow lands near them, making them rather useless, but highly hilarious

They can be pretty foul when they come in large numbers backed by a general and cavalry.
That "9" attack will kill heavy infantry like it aint no thang, especially when theres like 100 of them.
Also, when I was attacked by them, they had already killed most of England, so they all had golden experience markings.(I have no idea what they are called)

But, and I must stress this, a strong Scotland has been fun playing against. It has deleyed my inevitable conquest of the British Isles with at least 20 turns.
    lol

waste of time to invade lol (except when playing England of course)

The better question is "Who would want to rule Ireland?"

The answer to that would be "The same people who would want to rule Wales."

For my byzantine invasion of Britain, Ireland is a wonderfull beach head.
