    Default Harsh ruler trait

has anyone else been having too many harsh rulers ??

I have like 80% of my rulers having this trait, so i am a little bit confused as to how they get them. Until now i though when the settlement remains blue/red for too long the particular governor gets the trait but now im keeping all my settlements green and while keeping them green if possible i tend to keep very high taxes in whichever settlements possible ....
so is it that keeping very high taxes gets you the trait ? or is it the public happiness overall ?

this is cause you exterminate/ensalve population on conquering settlements or maintain high/very high taxes and do not build in citys despite having cash...
so harsh ruler kicks in sooner or later.

    So just two things,
you suggest that taxes be kept high if its possible while keeping settlement green and

about the corruption traits that supposedly kick in when treasury goes beyond 50,000 ! is it just for romans or for every faction ? caz when i wanted to change that limit and opened the trait file all i could see was for romans ......

This is a huge problem in 2.5. A lot of my gov's get it DESPITE building every turn. It's ridiculous.

Why is this happening as often as it does in 2.5 if taxes don't affect character traits as was claimed in another thread?

Can you explain why? That would help a lot. What problem(s) is it causing you?

Roman rule was often considered 'harsh', so it's not entirely inaccurate. Similar would have happened with any other conqueror.

Not always. Some governors were real despots, others not so. Hardly seems likely given that the overall goal of Roman occupation (eventually) was to integrate conquered lands into the empire. Roman citizenship was highly sought after by many.

You also have to define "harsh" by the standards of the ancient era. There were other nations that matched or exceeded the Romans in capacity for cruelty.

The Romans where notorious in that aspect though, integration might have been a long term goal but total subjugation were more important. When other states would have agreed to peace Romans kept fighting. They made sure their enemies could never stand up against Rome again, if that meant total annihilation then so be it(like the third punic wars). The Romans were defiantly harsher than hellenistic states when it came to wars and conquests.

So is there a quick fix to the script for those of us who are 25% into the campaign? I know we should wait for the patch for other various bug fix but I just want to continue this campaign and see it through to the end.

this has nothing to do with the script.
