Ive kinda noticed that too. They seem to only blockade my ports and trade routes. But then again I cant exactly see everything going on due to the fog of war so I dunno.
I've noticed they don't seem to be much of a problem until more factions have been destroyed (I've also had allies destroy Wako fleets blocking my ports)
I did once see the Chosokabe destroy a pirate fleet though.
Are you sure the takaoka fleet didn't fight it and capture most of the ships? Or did you mean in a battle? I've seen the AI fighting them before.
Yeah I've seen the AI attack Wako's all the time!

Nah they just hate you Spunk.
Does this happen when you have a bigger fleet too?
If I were a pirate caught in the middle of things, I;d definitely side with the bigger fleet.
What I want to know is where they come from, do they have a little castle on an island somewhere or do they just spawn randomly and can't be destroyed?
BS
I have seen pirate fleets blockade AI ports, and get driven off etc. The pirates are not an anti player force.
But it does seem like pirates have certain spots they spawn at. For instance there is a position at the eastern end of Echigo where I have seen pirates spawn at three times, the exact same spot. It might have to do with a minimum distance to a port though, yet a 'desire' to spawn near tradelanes.
Completely agree. Pirate ships are even more expensive in upkeep. Keeping the pirate bunes around is not a good investment. While I can understand the smaller crew for the pirate bunes (finding crews would be a patchy affair) the wako trade ships should have a good amount of extra marines (not the bowmen though).

I think the player is normally doing a disproportionate amount of the trade, so it only makes sense that the players would be disproportionately attacked by pirates.
You make all these accusations, which may or may not be true, but you don't really have much evidence to back them up other than your bad attitude.

In my first game i had a joint battle with the chokosabe AGAINST the pirates. I was completely neutral to chokosabe, did not even have a trade agreement, yet their nearby fleet joined mine as allies.
But i almost with there were even more pirates, sometimes i feel like my fleet is redundant.. I just sail around every turn looking for a target, never to find more than 1 pirate here and there.
Anyone else think those Wako trade ships should have a bigger crew ... the description seems to indicate they should pose some danger to other trade vessels but these guys are just an equal match ... also pirate medium bunes have 20 less archers on them.
how do you pronounce Wako?
Is it "Way-ko"
Or "Wah-ko"
???
