Icon3 Campaign Map - Regions, Resources, Fertility, Clans & Ports (web + ingame)

Long time lurker and TW fan, first time poster.
(moderators -- feel free to move where you feel this is most appropriate.)

Decided to make a map of the campaign – with resources, initial clan positions, port, fertility information, etc. Of course, as I was finishing it, I discovered a bunch of other people on the forums have been doing the same. I used their info to double-check and improve mine – fertility & resource info was scavenged from dutch81, Praetorian_BGX and gozer, and initial clan positions were borrowed from Dribbs at forums.totalwar.com.

Let me know if the map is helpful and if it can be improved (and if there are any obvious errors). It was tested in FF3/IE8/Safari, I strongly doubt it works in IE6.

The map is now also available as a mod -- it replaces the in-game encyclopedia Provinces page. Mod thread is here.

    Sample screen grab below:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Changelog:
    - Fixed various errors
    - Added resource/specialty icons to province info
    - Added fertility legend at bottom of page
    - Added town positions
    - Added playable clan info + bonuses
    - Map now available in the form of a mod (for in-game encyclopedia)

    Nice Map!

    PS
    Clicking on icon,
Maybe you miss smithing in 48 Satzuma-Shimatzu (instead of stone)?

    Nice map, but one thing.

There is no (Stone) resorce in Satsuma, there is really a (Smith). The highlighting shows up wrong.

This is great, I was just about to look up exactly where a few factions started so I can make vassals.

On your quick links for smithing, the Shimazu starting province is not highlighted, but is instead highlighted for stone.

Otherwise, excellent stuff, I know I'll be using it for my conquests.

I only glanced at it for a minute, but some feedback on some of the ports:

Tosa, Iyo and Awaji all have ports but show no in their description

Awa, which does show as having a port does not actually have one.

    EDIT:

Out of curiosity, how does one figure out the fertility rating and more importantly what does it do?

It's the "richness" of arable land. Farms in more fertile land will produce more richness than those in less fertile land. There are five levels, similar to the city economic level in Empire (rich, growing, etc), and if the mechanism is similar (I haven't checked it) the lowest level would multiply the initial richness by 1, the next by 1.25, normal level would multiply it by 1.5, the next by 1.75 and the richest level would multiply it by 2. These numbers come from my memory, I'm sure of the lowest and richest levels but not of the others.

You can see the fertility rating by placing the cursor on a farm.

It's excellent man! Thanks big time.

I have one suggestion, to mark the fertility on the map itself. Little green circle or Sakura = very fertile, orange = medium etc..

He's already colour coded the provinces by fertility in the map....

Yeah he has used Praetorian_BGX version of our map which was a much improved version of my version which worked as you suggested, make sure you check it out in the Region Map thread.

I really love the work he has done here this is the map as CA should have done it in-game which frankly was not very user friendly

Thanks to all for the positive feedback and to everyone who mentioned that I mixed up the smith in Satsuma and to Kyias for listing the ports I forgot to include – should be fixed now.

Fixed some other omissions too, and added a bunch of new icons + changed various descriptions to clarify the difference between resources and specialty. Also added an explanation for province fertility and a fertility legend at the bottom of the page.

Please do, especially since I used a bunch of info from your thread to correct my map

Awesome map. I've only found a couple of bugs. When putting the mouse over the philosophical tradition button Suruga-Imagawa-54 doesn't get highlighted. Also, Bingo-Kikkawa-4 has naval tradition but is listed as not having a port in the map, that could be a bug in the game though since I've never looked closely there.

Seriously though, props on making this.

A little suggestion though. Maybe add some sort of mark in the regions showing where the town is located. Oh and the Kawachi province is shown in red colour(barren colour), but its description is average.
