    Default Question about Hostages

Hi Guys - Quick question about Hostages!!!

I am playing as the Tokugawa and being the dishonourable back-stabber that I am, have betrayed my Overlords the Imagawa and quickly conquered their lands and made them my vassals. However this has put me at war with the Takeda (who are very strong) and I wish to make peace but get the feeling that they want war.

SO the question - If exchange my only son (Tokugawa Ieyasu no less) as a hostage and THEY (not me) break the peace, will Ieyasu be put to death???

I get the feeling that the answer is probably Yes but was wondering if anyone had a definite answer or had experienced the same dilema (actual dilema not game dilema)???

I have never had a clan attack me while my son or daughter was their hostage. I think they will only be put to death if you attack them.

They'll send your son's head to you in a box

Apologies, no I havent. I was just being dramatic. Although I do believe this is the case having read it somewhere on this forum recently. The killing, not the head in the box....

Okay but just this once as I feel that saving and reloading is dishonourable and shameful but I will gladly commit this crime to pursue knowledge.

Yep. Did it after Realm divide. They were all like, "sure, we'll take your heir to give you a *cough*one-turn*cough* peace. *grins*"

Well that went well.... Tokugawa Ieyasu dead at 10 years old - Poor little fella killed due to Shingen doing a backstab.

I've heard the advice, that you should only give your heir as a hostage to honorable (or "sufficient") clans, and never after Realm divide. This seems to support that advice.
