Question about funds and battle size.

I initially thought that battle size (5000, 10000 and so forth) was designed to be matched between players, meaning that if you had a 5000 army prepared, you got matched against someone with 5000 and so forth.
Lately, tough, i'm only finding 10000 points battles even when i enter with an army that's under 5000.

Consider that I prefer smaller engagements, I was wondeing what determines that. I'm actually starting to suspect that the Trading Post retainer is bugged, and my under 5000 points army is actually counted without the trading post bonus?

Does anyone have any insight?

As far as i'm aware its to do with your general level. If you level then lvl 4-7 then you'll mainly be matched into medium battles unless you opponent is lvl 3 or lower then your matched into small

Must be 3-7 then, since I'm still level 3. Pity though, I hoped there was more flexibility in the choice.

IIUC, it depends on the avatar levels of the players: small funds for level 1-3, 10k for 4-7, 14k for 8+ (or similar).
The smaller level decides.

The cost retainers don't change the funds you're given, but the units' prices (you can see them change).

The rank of the lowest level player in the match determines the funds you get I think. I also use the trading post retainer sometimes and it works for me just fine.
