Transylvania: Total War

I was reading about the history of Transylvania lately and I thought that the conflict in 12th-13th century Transylvania would make a great mod. Basiclly, the mod would extend from Lithunaia in the north (this is also about the Baltic crusades) to Greece in the south. Germany in the west, to the Black sea in the East. Factions would be:

Holy Roman Empire
Hungary
Poland
Lithunania
Romania (or some other faction representing the Slavs)
Byzantine Empire
Ottoman Turks (if I include Turkey)
Kievan Rus
Mongols/Golden Horde
Bohemia
Georgia
I will have more information on this mod as I read more information.

I really need help with creating this mod, I can't skin, and my only talent is history. If ANYONE can help me with skinning, their help is needed or this mod will never come to life.

Ottoman turks would be more accurate. Seljuks never really went that far west.

Definatly enough material to work on it as a mod. I would however, wait out till MTW2- you'll have a solid base to work on, especially since many of the units will be done already.

you're likely right. Besides, I REALLY do not want to create my own units execpt for historical accuracy and if I see fit to add them. Also because of the fact that im already working with Masteradnin on Islamic Conquests, this might have to wait until that's finished (or Faeghi comes back to aid us) and that will not happen until we can find a skinner.

Yup, best not to get too bogged down in multiple projects. My advice is however:

Research, Research...Research!!!

Basically, try and draw up some definitive unit lists, faction lists, provinces etc.
Start thinking about tech trees, AOR concepts. Anything that requres no modding at all. Get everything planned out...then you can just make a check list of things to do when it's time to get down to work

okay, I have decided that religion will play a big role in this mod. There will be Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy, Islam, Paganism, (multiple kinds of Baltic and Slavic gods will be worshipped) and if my research is accurate, there will be Mithraism, as I have read that it was still around in Romania in the 12th century, which is going to be a big part of the mod.

I also forgot to include Bohemia as one of the factions.

A transilvanian mod woud be more interesting in the period XIV-XV century when Turks were defeated by Vlad II Dracul and his son Vlad II Tepes(the impaler and the man of the legend of Dracula!).
i had thought to make this mod, but then i started with Crusader...

oh man, that would be so cool. you could create features like a of wood of impaled corpses around the capital for instance. i'm captured by a wave of macabre ideas... how about a fantasy/partial fantasy mod with mtw2? seriously! with vampire agents infilitrating the cort of a hostile kingdom and small special unit's of vampires in night battles and subtle black magic supporting espionage, diplomacy as well as battles and the weather over the sea and and and whatnot. no?

Right now, im abandoning leadership of the mod due to the fact that my life is way too difficult right now to make room for leading the mod. I will still help the mod out with historical research, but that won't likely happen till summer.

Zenith, if you wish, we could work together on these two mods. I could help with historical research for BTW if you need it, that period of history is one I am an expert in.

well, I think I might do two campaigns. The first centers on the Baltic Crusades as well as the Mongol Invasion, as well as the struggles between Catholic Hungary and Orthodox Romania, and if this mod is succesful, I might do Vlad Tepes and the Turks as an expansion. This period is less known then Vlad Tepes and his wars, and I really want to make a mod about it.

as for other matters, I might include Sweden as a faction. This mod is defintely waiting until MTW2 releases, and as a result might not release until summer 2007, so right now this is going to be research time for me and whoever wants to help me with this mod.

Eh eh...my idea is to make an historical mod

not a fantasy one...
a mod starting in the early XV century and finishing in the mddle of XVI ( maybe the battle of Mohacs)
the map would be of the balkanic area, including greece, hungary, serbia, valacchia, and also turkey...

okay, Dragases and Leandros, you're in. I'll post your names in the title post. Just know, that I am in charge, though I will listen to the advice of my fellow members, and I will include Vlad Tepes, either in the original mod or the expansion for it.

What we need right now is research. Any you can do on other factions in the area at the time (please refer to title post for information) will help us greatly.
