AI teamwork

I was doing a little custom battle to test out Zane's new skins for the Tokugawa, Oda and Shimazu and I was playing as the Oda clan against both the Shimazu and Tokugawa.
Suddenly this happened : (look at pics in attachments)

They were defending, so they formed up together and took up that position on the small hill.
Has anyone encountered two allies doing the same thing in the campaign map so far? I've only seen it just now in this custom battle.

It's like "We stand together, we die together as brothers, as allies" or something dramatic like that.
Sounds girly, but I was touched by the brotherhood these two armies shared. Almost makes me sad I have to kill them all

I have had this happen in a battle with two armies that weren't allies, against me, and it is really frustrating.

I think when there are two different armies involved the AI just fights as one army, that is why they form up like that and also why two non-allied armies act like allies when they face the player on a battlefield.

That's something I haven't really seen in previous titles...

I'd love it if it only worked for allies, because it looks pretty cool and makes sense, but not for two neutral armies that suddenly just decide to gang up on only the player.
