Default Resting Armies on the Move and "Ghost" Armies

Hey all, there are a couple things that are bothering me as far as campaign movement is concerned on the map, and I wanted to hear what others thought/experienced.

First, AI armies that have used up all their movement from the previous turn and are still able to retreat. I didn't think that was possible but maybe I'm wrong and they still get one more "retreat" action in them? I thought if you didn't have movement saved, then you couldn't retreat?

Secondly, I've seen AI armies that basically pass through my own army on choke point(for instance, a bridge), and that is absurd. I place my troops on a choke point for a reason! In the picture below, the Hattori army simply walked through my army on the bridge when retreating....

Im not sure but i think the problem might be that you are standing on the actual bridge ( i know its really stupid ) but when i try to hold a bridge i stand on one side which seems to work.

That's what I thought too, but I went back and placed my army every which way with no effect.

They didn't simply go around and over the other bridge? Are you sure?

yeah you're right to be on the bridge. AI can always retreat regardless of what they do. also retreat is weird, I know for sure they can retreat threw or into an ambush zone without triggering it. I don't think your placement has effect when they are retreating, they are gonna go where their gonna go regardless of your other troops.

It seems that is the case, though I really was hoping it wasn't. And no, the army didn't go around, I saw them walk through my army on the bridge. Why even bother ambushing and setting up choke points if an AI army can retreat through your units?

Sometimes this is very important, as I only have so many troops, and movement is crucial. In this instance, I wanted to either drive the Hattori in another direction or wipe them out, so that I could have my main army guard against the Tokugawa.

As it is, the army retreats through my army on the bridge and goes over to my weak side. Very frustrating.

It seems the game cheats far more than is fair - which is dissapointing considering it does so much so well.

in rtw, when all retreat paths are blocked off by your army stacks, they all die. there is no escape. I loved that when I found out.

“The only rule that ever made sense to me I learned from a history, not an economics, professor at Wharton. "Fear," he used to say, "fear is the most valuable commodity in the universe." That blew me away. "Turn on the TV," he'd say. "What are you seeing? People selling their products? No. People selling the fear of you having to live without their products." freakin' A, was he right. Fear of aging, fear of loneliness, fear of poverty, fear of failure. Fear is the most basic emotion we have. Fear is primal. Fear sells.” WWZ

Have you had your daily dose of fear yet? craziii
