    Default Shogun 2: Total Peace

So at first everything was war-riffic. Then when it got down to 6 or 7 clans, everybody was in love with each other and eventually started forming alliances with each other. Has anyone else been seeing this happen? It's gotten to the point where I need to restart, because any time I try to make progress by declaring war, I have 5 different factions jumping on my case.

Just bribe them to break the alliances.

    That

Or use some Monks to stir up rebellions. Sometimes the rebellions turn into full clans that steam roll their old occupier because the AI never puts soldiers in the castles that aren't on the borders.

Well to be fair, neither do I. I can't bloody afford to garrison all of Kyushu while I'm fighting a massive Takeda blob!

LOL sounds like the Ashikaga Shogunate got everything under control for another 100 years or so

I like the peace. I had a 9 turn peace to build up my army before I weant for the Realm Divide. After that it was non-stop war for 18 years

Wait, how do you trigger the "realm divide" thing?

I can't even handle a war unfortunately, because the AI is getting so much money from the difficulty level that I can't keep up in terms of recruiting and navy.

    Ah well.

On another note, has anyone else had the Oda clan wiped out in the first turn? It's happened to me in every game I've started. You think CA would've set them up with a better start.

Sounds like you need to start stirring up in their lands with some agents. Destroy their farms, incite revolts, etc. That should weaken them up a bit to initiate a war somewhere.

In peace, you prepare for war.

War is a big part of this game, but you can also use peace to master diplomacy. After some years of peace building a kickass army, you can bribe someone to go to to war with each other and enter the war as an ally. Or you can goad someone into attacking you.

I have maintained peace for twenty years as the Takeda, with about 6 clans left. The AI likes to declare war upon the player when they're weak it seems. However peace is still fun as war you see, I wage in times of peace... a Cold War....

Exactly, the AI does this as well.

IN fact, OP what is your difficulty? As Oda on VH I was just one province away from Realm Divide so I was spending at least 20-30 turns developing frontier castles and farms and such. In time one of the factions went to war with me and another but I beat them back. Afterwards I just went ahead to initiate Realm Divide.

Its not terribly difficuolt to wage war on all other clans at once, you have to do it post realm divide anyway, just get 4 full stacks and start hitting.
