Default Who is getting a new Rig for MTW2

My machine has hit the limiits of its upgradeablility, ive been swapping parts in and out for the last 5 or 6 years, and its finally at the point where I just need to break down and get a new machine, so I can separate work from gameing. However, my system issnt too shabby, and im sure it would be able to at least run MTW2, but I want to play MTW2 the way it was ment to be played, all settings maxxed.

So Who else is getting a new machine when the next total war comes out?

I probably wont be getting a new rig anytime soon, but the past few days I have spent maxing out my current one, turning it from 2.1ghz to 2.3 and maxing out my nvidia 6800gt. Rome runs lovely and smooth on max, apart from unit detail, which is on high. I too feel the same about MTW2 - i.e. that it should be played maxed out, but for me that aint going to happen for a long time.

MTW2 isn't that demanding of a game, my X1600 Pro should be more than enough.

    Geforce 7800GT
    1GB 2-2-2-6 RAM

EDIT: KrazyKarl, you wont need $2500 I got this for $1600 (including shipping and handling)

I voted That i'm buying a new rig. I just ordered my FX-60 Processor, and once that comes in, I can handle any game, and be decently "future-proof", for atleast a year or two.

    My Spec's
    (1) BFG 7800 GTX 512mb edition
    (1) AMD FX-60 Processor
2gb of Corsair XMS CL2 RAM
    BlueGears Dolby Digital 7.1 Soundcard
    Logitech 5.1 Speakers
    1 Raptor
    1 250gb Seagate Barracuda
    ThermalTake Armor Case
    HiperPower 580w PSU
    (3) 120mm Fans
    (2) 80mm Fans
    (1) other Type of fan
    a few cold Cathodes.

I had to spend $2100 USD on this , but atleast i'm future proof for awhile. Lee1026 is probably going to kill me for spending this much, Incinerate and Prox might also kill me

Anyone that is dumb enough to be willing to pay for a FX processor deserves no better then to be swiftly parted from their money. However, I must thank you for subdizing research that will go toward making my semprons and athlons alot better.

Well, the only part I didnt buy was the FX itself , that was actually partly payed by giftscards etc. I only spent about $450 on it, the other 500 roughly was covered in gifts cards, rebates etc.

I'm not upgrading anything, I'm tired of being told I have to upgrade for every stupid new game that comes out.

It's probably why I've only been buying old games recently..

That means that you could've gotten a X2 4200+ basicly for free!
Anyway why did you go for a 7800GTX 512 instead of a x1900X?
And I won't kill you, I will just despite you! Thought I must admit that mostly comes from envy.

The difference between the two is barely noticeable (i.e 157 FPS vs 166 FPS) Besides, Nvidia has better Driver support IMHO, and certain Nvidia optimized games look better on it. Besides, there really isnt a big difference, except for price. Even though the 1900 has 48 PIXEL shader pipelines, it only has 16 normal pipelines. I prefer the 24 of Nvidia, I just like Nvid better

Remember folks, price for performance drops rather sharply after you get to the end of the mid-end market. Also, remember that the people making these games are out to make a profit, and most people in the world is still running on 2.55 GHZ P4s and intergrated graphics.

Not on max settings thought.
Anyway it's up to each man weather he thinks playing at high resolutions with max settings is worth the premium price. Myself I could not justify the cost, but lets not high-jack this thread.
