Yeah, after a massive battle, leave the game at the final screen before you click for a minute or two, to let the game catch up on itself (dont forget - its old). That should get rid of the CTD.
Also, after a long while of playing, you might want to close the game and restart it. This cleans up the memory files.
Having more memory on your comp should help, right now I have those crashes even if i wait but I have windows 7 with only 2 gbs of ram, I'm upgrading to 4gb once it arrives in the mail this week so I will tell you how that works out.
You are aware that 32 bit operating systems will not reference more than 3.5Gb of memory? You need a 64 bit operating system to use more.

And rtw only uses a single core. So memory upgrades are pointless.
"Memory" does not equal "CPU"
Memory upgrades can be useful to allow the game to use the full 2GB that would otherwise have to be shared with other processes. For example on a 2GB RAM machine, 2GB would have to be divided between game, system, and other running processes. With 4GB of RAM, the game can use 2GB, while the system and other processes use the remaining GBs, thus enhancing performance of the game, and the system in general.
There is also the possibility to allow the game itself to use more than 2GB of RAM, but we cannot discuss that here![]()
RTW uses single core processor only. Most people upgrading to 4gbs of ram have 2+ cores.
Therefore, memory upgrade would be pointless from 2gbs.
A CPU upgrade AND a memory upgrade would be worth it. The faster a single core can run the better.

I have a dual core Intel e6400 but it is overclocked from 2.2 Ghz to 2.8 Ghz so it's not really slow. plus 12345678 is right about the game having more access to ram since my system uses about 35% of the available ram just running default programs so the upgrade will expand what the game can use by at least 35% if not more. it will also be faster ram since it is better quality and I can overclock it better then the old stuff.
ok so after looking at some error reports it seem to be a

this is more complete info, anyone know this or know a moderator or tech person who knows about this kinda error?
oh and btw I upgraded my RAM and the problem has been happening before and after so it should not be that.
The fact that you are running an RTW engine on a muilti-core machine with Windows 7 may be the cause of the exception. I would almost guarantee that neither CA or Sega tested the RTW engines with this configuration, so it is likely that it's not fully supported. Some suggestions that may eliminate the exception:
1. Disable multi-core processing on the CPU
2. Stop overclocking
3. Run RTW-BI in Windows XP compatability mode
4. Make sure no other applications (e.g antivirus) are running while you are playing.
5. Get more video card memory. At least with single core systems (like mine)this improves performance/stability more that adding RAM to your system.
Okay.. to be honest I have no idea how to fix this, so I'm just going to throw some ideas out there.
1) You say the RAM is not causing the problem. To completely eliminate this, have you run a memtest?
2) Have you reinstalled the game and mod?
3) If you're running through the launcher: try running it through the batch files, or, even better, add the commands to the .exe itself.
4) You are able to run vanilla, yes?
I actually have stepped up my system from 2 to 4 gigs of ram and it hasn't had a CTD since I did this. Thank you Latin Patton for all your suggestions, I will try some if the problem returns.
