    Default Disloyal general

So I'm playing as the Date clan, and my leaders brother is my general, a highly skilled one, he won me every war he leaded so far. Not only that but he has a 5 star rating. My problem though is for some reason he is not very loyal , I was given the choice between ordering a seppuku or gving him a chance, as you would guess i went for the latter, but I kept getting reminded about this fact. My question is what can a disloyal general do?

Can he use my army and rebel against me???

As far as i know it reduces you Diaymo's(or however its spelt) honour and can reduce your diplomatic standing.

Same exact thing happened to me man. I was also Date. He was my Brother and my top general, and I made the same choice as you. Diplomatic Relations got REAL bad for awhile, my honour went WAY down and almost all of the campaign map was red towards me. It will eventually go back up, but this is something you will probably want to avoid when you are in the middle of the map. Lucky for us, Date has a direct route towards all enemies and can't get surprised easily.

Hmmm so thats why most of my allies are breaking our trade agreement and are becoming hostile to me . But I dont see why he suddenly became disloyal, I mean he has been heroic on the battlefield, he is already a legend in my book, he is close to being fully upgraded, plus i'm short on other generals.

I felt the same. I had just begun the game basically and he was already disloyal. Granted the Date's storyline is about internal struggles initially, that may be bound into the storyline. I'm not sure CA thought that far ahead and would think more along the lines that it's randomly throwing a "dillema" at us for no good reason.

But I don't know for one fact either way, something probably did affect his loyalty, check out those ratings. This happened to me so early on I didn't know what to check.

if you mouse over his loyalty, it will tell you what factors are contributing to his loyalty rating. sometimes when generals get lots of stars and victories they will get 'Delusion of Grandeur' for -1 loyalty. Also if you promote another general or adopt a son it can create 'Upstart Son' (will effect your brothers and other sons) or 'Upstart General' (will effect your other generals) for -1 loyalty each.

In one of my games a Date general defected to me in a important battle, and I think it was because he had low loyalty, he took about 8 units with him aswell.

Basically, try to keep your Daimyo's honour up high, this helps with your generals' loyalty a lot. Furthermore you can give those four commissions to your generals, those raise loyalty too. And some arts raise either your Daimyo's honour or your generals' loyalty; I remember Noh, tea ceremony and Sumo.

I'm positive that having a high rank daimyo too. Generals get delusions of grandeur if they have 5 stars while the daimyo has 1.

I think thats exactly the reason why he is so disloyal, now that I look at it. When I went over his loyal rating it said delusions of grandeur, and like you said my daimyo only has 1 star so maybe my general is thirsty for power knowing that my daimyo is weak . It would be interesting if their is a shift in storyline and my general leads a rebelion against the daimyo and ultimately defeats me and then becomes daimyo. Could be karma coming back to my daimyo after all he is the one that killed his father.

I had a son who got delusions of grandeur at 4 stars. I ejected him and the other deluded general from my army in a fight with the tokugawa (they'd been depleted by a previous battle).
