help game whont start

ive just unistalled rtw and reintalled so i had a fresh install to mod

now when i put the disk in the main screen comes up with play install ex. the i press play then little icon come up in the middle of the screen (demo sheild) then nothing lodes

i douple kick the icon and nothing

ive unistalled and reinstall 3 time's now up 3 times and deleate the whole ca folder and let it thur my anti virus

dont know whots happend it was working befor this

please help

Since you have uninstall and reinstall the game so many times I suggest that you grab Auslogics Registry Cleaner to fix the registry keys in Windows and reboot your PC once you're finished.

After that just give it time to load up the setup program before you interfere, but should nothing happens in... let say 2-3 minutes you can than close it in the task manager. While doing this just have an eye on the disk activity indicator and if that indicator lamb is not flashing then something is absolutely wrong with your CD/DVD device or your HDD. The worse scenario is that your RAM or video card is somehow damaged and needs to be replaced.

Yes, but with Auslogics Registry Cleaner you don't need hassle with regedit. The only thing you need to do is to delete the Rome Total War folder and run Registry Cleaner which is much easier for anyone.

will use that then try install
it dose let me intall

@Leonardo, I've used Eusing Free Registry Cleaner before Auslogics even existed. And it's still free. Some even prefer the free version of Ccleaner. BUT for the stubborn ones every so often you have not run into yet, the link above is invaluable. Believe me. Been there, done that.

guys done all that still the samething happing
ive tryed start/run/mycomputer/cd-drive-e/rometw.ex
then i get this

rometw.exe- system error
this progarm can't start because mss32.dll is missing from your computer.
try reinstalling to fix the program to fix the problem

but if i try to run the ex from program files nothing happens

Mss32.dll is Miles Sound system and has to be loaded for the game to work.

If you have Vista or Win 7, disable the UAC, then install the game. There maybe something in Windows security layer blocking it.

@Leonardo, off-topic, have you had to use the Command Prompt/DOS window to delete files? I have.

turned off uac and restarted the reintalled then restarted
still the same thing nothing when i double click on ex. on DT

m2tw works from disk lodes up fine

Load it back up, then.

Press ctrl-F and type rome, barbarian, creative assembly, and anything else you can think of tied to the game and search for any entries that don't belong anymore after an uninstall. There is one hiding. If you find it/them, delete them.

Word of caution. It does have a backup option in the dropdown menu. I'd advise using it before going to work.

I think the OP need to post the contents of dxdiag (CTRL+R type dxdiag return) and post it here so we can examine it, because it might be a hardware issue here without the sound card drivers.

@irishron: off-topic, No I've deleted RTW files on Windows7.
