Default Dilemmas a bit of a waste of time

Because you have to decide right then and there and cant look at any of your clan information.

For example right now i have the "Ambitious Traders" dilemma where i can either let my

-traders invest over seas and give me +25% trade goods and +50% growth form ports

    or

-traders focus on Japan giving +25% tariff bonus on trade and +5 growth per region

Only i cant check out my trade and decide which would give me the better bonus. So i have to guess which one. What a waste gg CA gg.

Errm, that one is really easy to understand. If you do naval trade as you main sourse of income then the port one would be very powerful but the other one is very hand if you landlock with alot of land, when goods pass through your clans territory you get to put a tax/Tariff on it making a nice profit...

Well, shouldn;t that be a lesson to take a look at your trade a little bit more often, so you always have at least an idea of how you are doing?

I agree it would be better if you could check your trade, but I don;t think it's really that big of a deal.

I agree with the original poster, it would be nice to be able to minimize the popup window and check your stuff first.

True, but i wouldnt call them a "waste of time" as the OP did. I for one love em, adds some seasoning to the grand campaign.

Yes, I love these little pop ups, gives you something new to do every now and then in the campaign. But it would be good if we could minimise them and check the details first. They're certainly not a waste of time.

Well sure they do, but if i cant tell whats going on they might as well not bother to give us the choice and just randomly assign them.

@Maizel: Yeah because real leaders are just randomly approached with decisions arent they?

They are, actually Sometimes, events move fast and a leader has to take a decision without debating and mulling it over for a week. Real world history is full of examples.

Still, I agree it would be nice if you could minimize the window, but even without that I don't find the dilemmas as horrible as you describe.

No, real leaders know if their trade income comes mainly from land or sea without having to check.

Hopefully it can be patched in at a later date.

meh not a big issue for me, usually know what would benefit me on those types of popups. However i would like to know what general i need to redeemed or order killed. I dont memorize their names.

Its not game breaking, i just pick one and live with it. Not horrible, but meaining less. Honestly just a random bonus achievement most of the time for me would have the same effect as this mechanism.

Without actually knowing what im doing it is often a waste of time. And for the questions asked in the dilemmas, none of them are pressing. Honestly. Do we want this bow master to help train our troops? Should we hunt the pirates? What should our trade policy be? Hell no I want to know whats happening before i make a decision.

The generals one is a no brainer also. Since i have no way of knowing who it is i just say bugger off and keep my general.

hmm not brainless since he is questionable loyality and my betray you.

No, every time it pops up my generals all have 4+ loyalty. I make sure to keep their loyalty high. Ive had 1 general ever with a low loyalty I couldnt raise (no more daughters or offices) and i meatgrinded him into a unit of spearmen to get rid of him. The general dilemma is random as far as i can tell.

while i can imagine that being annoying, personally i am far more annoyed by the "two allies declare war" message, not only do the two partys not display any flag colors, but you cannot use the minimap to find out where the clans are located, in fact, you cant do anything at all to try to get a political bearing on the situation.

I've had some really fun ones, like paying the shogun tribute and getting +50 to diplomacy, or throwing francis xavier out.
