DoTS has blew my socks off so many times already that I don't have anymore socks left, I don't think it's worth buying anymore socks until it's released and I've played non-stop for a week or two.

Interesting comment, Rubicon.
I cannot at the moment think of a good way to implement something like that, though. As to this: "and cheating that sometimes occurred that resulted in public humiliation from the loss." there's already a chance of disgracing oneself in a tournament.
Actually, that's not entirely true. As Rome was reputedly the place where the Apostles Peter and Paul were entombed, quite a large number of Byzantines made pilgrimages to Rome, though obviously the number dwindled into the twelfth century as the schism between Rome and the East deepened. In the eleventh century and earlier, however, we can name numerous examples of Greeks going on pilgrimages to Rome: people like St Nilus of Rossano, St Blasius of Tarsus, St Elias Speleotes, St Sabas, St Lazarus Galesiotes etc. We know about these because it is recorded in their hagiographies, though their hagiographies also mention that there were various other unnamed pilgrims who accompanied them on their pilgrimages to Rome. Rome itself was host to numerous Greek, Armenian and Syrian monasteries (though obviously these too dwindled as the schism deepened). Even with the schism, there still existed Greek monasteries such as Grottaferrata, just outside Rome, which had been founded by St Nilus of Rossano.Originally Posted by Meneth
What I would say is that, if the Byzantines had somehow managed to reconquer Rome for the Orthodox Church, we would expect that pilgrimages there from Greek and Byzantine lands would have become very common.

We'll test it. And we'll have a beta before the full release.
First of all i have to say i like your ideas and approve with most of it. The only point i don't agree with you is the health system.
It is true that the average mortality-rate in medieval europe was at around 30 years. But this is not mainly due the fact of diseases (excluding great pest waves). It is rather a product of the fact that the average lifespan includes childhood mortality as well, which was, as well as the birth rates, exceptionally high and therefore "pushing" down the lifespan.
It was not uncommon in medieval times to have a lifespan of 40 to 60 years after childhood. This goes as well for the average peasant as it goes for nobles, who even had sufficient food and less sanitary problems which led, directly and indirectly, to a lot of deadly diseaes.
All in all i still go with your idea of losing traits with age or would even think of adding sicknesses as negative traits causing inevitable death after several rounds.
As you said the limit to children per family is set by 4, but you could increasy the death rate of newborn to five year olds if you want to stay historically correct.
But given that the fact, it is pretty useless to increase childhood mortality or keeping a low birth rate w/o mortality. The outcome is the same. Except you would like to give the father any negative traits (for some time) if childhood death occures.
I hope it changes your mind or even gives you some new ideas regarding your natural death system

The average age of death in DotS is set to roughly 50 years to account for death before the age of 21 (death before 21 isn't reflected in-game due to the 4-children limit)
nice but i'm waiting it for a long time
So have we.
This mod will kick ass! Intresting new options anyways...
