    Default Uesugi Battle Standard

Uesugi Kenshin's Battle Standard - 'BI'
    The First Character of 'Bishamonten',
    the God of War

I'm just wondering why aren't you usuing this symbol for the Uesugi clan, but instead you have a blue falg with a red circle. I'm guessing the red circle represents the sun. By the way I just re-read his (Uesugi Kenshin) story which reminded me that I've been meaning to mention this. Only if he had lived longer I think he would have beaten out the Oda like he plan on doing. To bad he adopted Kagetora and Kagekatsu which really messed up things for the Uesugi house.

Indeed, the flags you have seen so far Deadcell87 are nobori, thats flags carried by divisions in the army. The banner, or Uma Jirushi carried by Uesugi Kenshins personal bodyguard would use the Bishamonten-flag thought.

This will also happen, just as the Takeda will use Shingens banner, the one with his slogan. I think Kagemusha has put together suitable Uma Jirushi for every clan.

So the general's body guard for the Uesugi clan will carry the Bishamonten-flag.

Thats the idea. The problem is that the huge uma jirushi will be flown on the back of a cavalryman, and I doubt it was ever carried that way. Typically an honored ashigaru would carry it in a framework on his back, with at least a couple of comrades helping to keep the flag steady with ropes fastened to its shaft. But this is a compromise we will have to make, unless we are to change all general bodyguards to infantry.

In the units' list we can read :
    Special Elite foot unit:

    Hatamoto Yakku
    DONE

    Nodachi samurai
    DONE

    Flag unit
    to be Done

Why shouldn't you use the Flag unit as the Uma Jirushi. Normally there was only one uma jirushi for a daimyo and it was on the battlefield only when the daimyo was present. This would be a very inspirational unit during a battle. There would be only one in the entire army at one time.

The flag unit will not hold the uma jirushi, it will be a special small unit with inspirational capabilities, where each man in the unit carries a nobori, and the officers and standard bearers are conch and shell-carriers(I think). The Uma Jirushi must ofcourse be carried by the general unit and noone else, otherwise there could possibly be several uma jirushi on the field for the same side, and thats not supposed to happen.
