    Default DX 11 Cards

    Hello all,

Shogun 2 is out and I noticed that there are going to be some permanent limitations when running with graphics cards that don't support DX 11. My GTX 295 still runs great and I hadn't planed on upgrading soon. I'm personally not even sure if I'm going to get Shogun at some point and I'm guessing this type of situation isn't going to be all that common.

My question would be is it worth it at this point to upgrade to one of the lower tier DX 11 cards. I wouldn't want to spend several hundred on a new card, but if I can get one in the few hundred range would it be worth it? On Newegg right now they have anything from a GTX 460 at around $200 to the GT 430 line coming in as cheap as $60.

My gut tells me it's not worth spending the money on a DX 11 card just for the sake of having DX 11 support. Was just looking for some input. Thanks.

If the card you have is working fine then stick with what you have because unless you get a card like the GTX580 it will be a downgrade in terms of performance.

$350 for the GTX570 would give you a small FPS boost as well as full DX11 support, otherwise you're better off with what you have.

I had assumed as much. In terms of a performance boost, the 580 probably isn't worth the cost at this point. Thank you Gents.
