But they do turn other people into vampires, and the relationship they have with these 'victims' can be considered parental (though often with an incestuous tinge).

I could do that I suppose.
I have looked at the files the Vampires trait does not seem to differ from similar ones like Human, Elf etc.
So I don't understand why the Vampire family members arn't inheriting the Vampire trait. Maybe another trait is preventing its inheritance.

Do these "sons" eventually become vampires?
That'd be a pretty clever way of simulating the whole period of being a thrall and proving oneself worthy to becoming a vampire.

No but it is a good idea. In the file I forget what it is called, the trait Vampire has the exact same triggers for the trait as the Elf and Human traits do but the Vampire trait isn't triggered for some reason.

More importantly the Necromancy trait isn't triggered either.

Edit: Just discovered the Give trait cheat dosn't work for the Vampire trait either. It did work on for giving the Human trait. Also it said it can't find the trait in the database, what database is it talking about? I thought there was only three files relating to traits.

did u try "vampir" ?(without the "e") like
add_trait "character name" vampir 1
that is if you have the english translation version, i got no idea what it would be if no english translation

Yes I tried everything ,Vampire, Vampir, Vampir 1, I might not have tried Vampire 1. It is the English translation for 1.4.4 .
Edit: none of them worked just checked and it stil says "cannot find trait in the database" when I try the cheat.
