    Default I'm boned.

    Oda, H/H, around turn 40-ish.

My long time trade partner and ally, Hattori, has betrayed me (Despite having very friendly relations) and has been sending stack after stack my way, I've destroyed about three of them but they have another full stack and a half stack in Mino now. Then my other trade partner, Kiso, decided to invade with two full stacks (Combined they add up to 12,000 men, using modded unit sizes, and the Hattori number about 8,000) my garrison in Mino is about 2,000 or so men and my garrison in Owari is around 4,000 men. I have a small army in Hattori territory which has succeeded in taking three of their provinces (And I made one rebel with a monk so they've actually lost four regions) but they won't try to defend themselves so I'm making a beeline for Iga, then Hattori will only have Omi left. In the south I'm in a constant back and forth war with the Takeda and Hojo, I managed to destroy two Takeda stacks and they are now out of the war, but Hojo is coming for my weakened army in Suruga.

Mino is screwed, 2,000 or so men against 20,000 in a stronghold isn't going to end well. For some reason the Hattori and Kiso both take the field against me even though they aren't allied. I probably could destroy both of their armies in Owari but if I lose there it's all over, there would be nothing between them and the rest of territories.

This is how most of my campaigns end, I get frustrated with the AI's cheating and I start over, but I really want to finish this one. Any advice on how to wrest victory from the jaws of defeat? Also, does anyone feel like none of their work on H/H matters? No matter how many heroic victories and successful ambushes I pull off the AI stacks just never seem to end, I destroyed three stacks from Hojo and two from Takeda and now Hojo has renwed the war with a brand new stack.

kinda having the same sort of problem myself on Hard/Hard.

I'm 'coping' but only just. I have been going on for years 'coping' but the problem is that all clans (even those I had strong ties and marriages with) have turned against me fairly early in the game. This means I have huge stacks on my doorstep at all times.

The only way I'm surviving is a mixture of Ninja and cunning feints. I *think* I may be able to dig myself out of it given enough time.

What I am doing is using my Ninja to stop the enemy stacks advancing on my (basically screwed) cities. I then send out fairly small armies to their cities which makes them pull back any other stacks that you haven't managed to sabotage. You don't have to actually attack their cities but you have to threaten them.

Of course this relies on having agile armies on the campaign map otherwise you will get caught and you will get slaughtered.

The problem I am having is that when I engage the enemy they often come armed with full stacks of samurai archers and they are INCREDIBLY powerful in that kind of force. a big long line so it's hard to flank them and you don't have enough units to engage all of them at once to stop them firing, it's a nightmare.

I think your allies betray you if you are nearby and you are heavily reliant on their trade to support your armies (even if you are engaging someone else). Every time I have been using trade income to wage a war, my trade partner turns against me and collapses my economy. I'm going to remember that for my next campaign and try to be a little more self reliant and also trade with clans who are further away.
