i need help from someone who knows about text files

i need the help of a good gentleman here that knows how to correctly add and modify SS 6.4 text files.

right now i am trying to mod a map but i have a small problem; when i want upgrade a village to a city i need to give the settlement core buildings such as stone wall and other stuff. however when i select "core_buildings" and attempt to give the settlement its "stone_walls" i get a white scrolling screen. this means that in the text files these core buildings are not accordingly set up.
if anyone can help me with this i will be eternally great full. i know nothing of text files or else i would have done it myself. btw i am using geomod so if you are aware of that program then you should have a better idea of what exactly the problem is.
