    Icon9 Building Management

First off... I am enjoying this game immensely...

However a gripe that is now starting to 'grind my gears'.

Building Management is a pain. Many provinces which have to be scrolled through every time to see what can be built which is just an annoyance, where I feel like I have to engage autopilot at the beginning of a new turn.

1: Why isn't the spinning hammer/trowel icon included? This was useful in NTW and ETW where the buildings that could be upgraded with adequate funds had this floating above them just by looking at the beautiful campaign map, thus negating the trawl through.

2: I like the feature where each region can specialise in something... it promotes good management, HOWEVER, I would love to have seen some sort of table where I can see how many dojos, temples, rice exchanges, etc I have actually built in my empire. Surely this would enable me to better choose what to build next. Atm, I'm hating the fact that I now regard myself as haphazardly choosing which building to start next, as I have lost track of what I actually have and where.
The mini-map, where you can see where your agents, special resources, armies and the like would have been even better if you could immediately see where all your sword schools, yari dojos, stables, etc are with some clever iconography and one simple click.

Apart from that, I think this forum has already pointed out the other issues.

Please by all means give me some advice if there is some other, more efficient way which I have clearly missed, or even if I have clearly started a thread which has already been discussed.

If any of you chaps at CA reads this, it would be very interesting to hear your thoughts on this.

    Cheers.

I must say I find building management has improved immensely by being able to see all buildings of a region it one single panel.
Granted, they could have kept the spinning icon (optionally?) too, but I don't see its point anymore.
You can just go through each of your regions with the arrow buttons on the bottom left, and if there is an upgradable building, it will have an "up" arrow on it's building card on the bottom. Personally, I think it's much easier this way than having to scan the whole map.

But yeah, TW always fell a little short in giving global overviews over your empires' buildings.

Yeah that sounds much easyer than just looking at the map you are already looking at to find out if the map you are looking had has any buildings that need building on the map you are looking at. Did i mention that in ETW you just had to be looking at the map to know if you had any buildings that needed to be built on the map you were looking at

The trowel/hammer thingy was an awesome feature. Really a bad move not to include it again, be cause it literally is easyer and faster than having to manually scroll thru each castle town, plus even when your not hunting for stuff to build because you are looking at the map already you see lots of them anywayy and get an automatic reminder.

Yeah if you only have two regions to fit on one screen, you're already looking at it.

    Cheers for the reply,

rob-a-dogg, It was better wasn't it!

It seems to me here that CA have missed a trick then. The ease in which you can see where your armies, fleets and agents on the mini map is brilliant. If CA implemented a drop down menu with what buildings you have, with icons on the mini map showing the location of them; would have been excellent. Gold for 'built' and silver for 'under construction' perhaps. This will never happen though. Shame. Seems like I'll have to just trawl through each of my increasing number of provinces on every turn. I think it's around 30 clicks, instead of what could have been one or two.

No I hated all the fluorescent icons everywhere in Empire and Napoleon, I much prefer the asthetic look of S2.

So it looks like a better use of the mini-map should be the way forward?

It is annoying that I have to scroll through all of my provinces to find buildings that can be upgraded. I don't know why CA has yet to implement another scroll/menu that shows you all of your provinces that have buildings that can be upgraded.

Yeah I was wondering in ETW/NTW already why there wasn't just a list window available showing all upgradable building spots... no need to scroll at all with that.
