    Default Cavalry

Hey guys, my game just arrived in the mail, so while it's installing I have a question about Yari Cavalry. Do Yari Cavalry beat Katana Cavalry or is it the other way around? What is Katana cav used for?

Yari Cav is a shock troop, so initially Yari Cav does immense damage to Katana Cav, however eventually the Yari Cav will be bogged down by the Katana Cav.

Ahh ok, just from what i've seen in battles so far, two Yari cav destroy 2 katana cav

Personally I don't see the use of yari cavalry that much. I usually prefer to bog katana cav down with yari ashigaru or samurai and have my cavalry be katana cav to flank their infantry.

I would at least keep a few units around, just to carry out quick and deadly kills against important units, such as using them to kill the enemy general. (Since I can never seem to assassinate him with Ninjas)

From my experience yari cavalry is stronger than katana cavalry against cavalry. When bogged down by infantry, katana cavalry will stand their ground while yari cavalry will have their difficulties, but when bogged down by cavalry, the yari cavalry will stand their ground.
In multiplayer battles I always have 2 yari cavalry units with me, mostly hiding in the forest waiting for an opening on the enemy general. He wont stand a chance.

Katana cavalry is strong against infantry, Yari cavalry is strong in the charge and against other cavalry.

yari gets charge bonus plus has iirc 15 bonus vs horse so yari cav should always beat katana unless katana gets the charge in from flank/behind.

    Yari cav is anti-cavalry cavalry.

It also has a nice charge so you can use it for that too.

I like what they did with the Cavalry units:

Yari Cav - Has the best charge of all cav units. They should charge into the enemy and then withdraw to charge again, if you keep them in a prolonged melee, they will suffer high losses due to their low Melee Defense, and may even rout. The bonus against other cav allows it to be very effective vs other cav units.

Katana Cav - This is the all purpose cav but they don't exel in any category, good charge, good armor, good attack, these guys can stay in melee and hold their own (not against Yari inf).
